Aluminum, wood, fiberglass ladders all have unique pluses and minuses.

Wood.
+ natural, recyclable, wood fibers take stress and when overloaded, break slowly, not suddenly. But can flex a bit without damage.
Well maintained, can last decades.
+ safe around electrical wiring
- heavier than aluminum
- water + termites can damage it

Aluminum
+ lightest.
+ Generally corrosion proof with the exception of some chemicals and salts.
+ fine in wet conditions
- fastest to snap/bend and fail if unevenly and over loaded.
- not the choice around electrical wiring and devices

Fiberglass
+ fails slower than aluminum under excessive loads, bends then fails
+ non conductive so safer around electrical wiring
+ fine in wet conditions
- sun/uv exposure causes degradation of the fiberglass.

....

Key with aluminum is even leg loading. You don't want it on any surface where it rocks or wobbles, forcing the load(you) onto 3 legs.

This will bend the aluminum and like a cola can, bend it far enough with your weight on top and it'll suddenly buckle.

Don't dent it.
Don't damage the 2 step side braces.

And with ALL ladders, keep your weight/body centered between the rails! Moving the center of mass outside the rails invites tipping falls.

....

Those on ladders a lot, platform aluminum ladders like those from Gorilla at Home Depot are much nicer due to a wide top step. You'll feel very stable on that vs the narrow steps of stepladders, and your arches don't hurt.

For the first general ladder, this A frame aluminum or Gorilla platform aluminum would be my everyday go to.

Beyond that, depends on what type of work you're doing.
It's the other way around, fiberglass is stronger and heavier than aluminum, plus you can get electrocuted using an aluminum ladder.
Buy the new one and bring with you old receipt and walk back in and return. Bam, price adjusted. No need to put any ladder on your car.

Usually the same as the return period, so I'd imagine 90 days

They used to make these in Louisville KY but now they are made in Mexico. Maybe thats why the price is low? Hopefully quality is still good. We have the same one for many years.

Heard aluminum is more durable and not breakable like fiberglass. Correct me if I'm wrong.

No, Fiberglass is more durable, but also heavier.

I did the same and called home Depot. I was told they are not allowed to price adjust if it is a black Friday sale. Doesn't make any sense to me. It is going to be a hassle to order a new one and return the old one to store though, given the size.

Better question would be what is the return policy. Buy the new one and walk back in with the old receipt and return right away = adjustment

Really good price for a Werner. I have a 6 footer from them that I bought 15 years ago. Still solid.
