I've been watching a particular cruise over the last couple weeks. For that specific cruise, this "sale" is actually more expensive than it has been for the weeks I've been watching.

Done 20+ cruises. They are only a rip-off if you allow them to be. I just sailed on Symphony of the Seas, Oasis class cruise ship with Royal Caribbean on a 7 night sailing in the Western Caribbean.

My wife and I don't drink alcohol, we don't do the internet package because you basically have internet once you get off the ship at every port 5 of 7 days anyway, so why pay extra, just enjoy being offline on sea days, and we buy excursions through things like Viator, or just do our own thing.

My wife and 3 kids, 5 people total, left that 7 night cruise with less than $100 in extra charges, and most of that was just $5 t-shirts, and I stupidly forgot my fancy gel, so I bought some overpriced gel for $40 at the salon than the cheap $4 gel in the toiletries vending machine. We did $5 milkshakes with the kids 1 day.

There was so much included you don't need to pay for all the extra crap.

I've sailed Princess, NCL, Carnival, Disney, and RC. You can basically get through any cruise without the upcharges, though NCL, imo, REALLY nickle and dimes the hardest, and Disney is the easiest to spend the most money on because so much extra stuff for the kids that is just awesome has an extra charge... but in all honesty, Disney is a one-time thing only cause it's 3x the cost of Royal Caribbean for smaller more crowded ships lol.

You really can make cruising into a fun and affordable vacation, you really can.

I think it depends if they share a stomach or not

What's your favorite one? Haven't tried one and curious on trying one with my wife. We usually just buy plane ticket and book hotels.

I typically go on two cruises a year. None of the cruises really seem like a deal compared to any other time of the year.

3rd and 4th guest free but they give you one bed? Maybe I'm missing something.
Bunk beds from wall or ceiling. Like one of the pictures with two kids in this link

Princess usually doesn't have many children onboard and is an older crowd. It's a more elegant, laidback experience overall, at least on the Discovery Princess. Carnival caters to a younger crowd and lots of kids, Royal Caribbean is similar, but with much better food and entertainment than Carnival. Disney is super expensive and geared toward children. The length of cruise also comes into play when determining who it caters to. A short cruise is usually a booze cruise, 2-5 nights. Without knowing specifics about you, like do you drink a lot, age, do you have children, what activities you enjoy, etc., it's hard to say what would be best for you.

Early 30's. I'm leaning on a short cruise so we could bail if its not for us.

My husband and I used to do a lot of cruising about 20 years ago. Vacations to Go was the website we used for the most competitive pricing. I haven't had any interest in going on a cruise in the past couple decades, however my fellow cheapskate neighbors still use that site to book all of their cruises. They go at least once a year.

My absolute favorite ships to sail on are the Royal Caribbean Oasis class ships. They are just so huge, and the interior corridors on every floor feel amazing comparatively. It's like walking downtown and enjoying the nightlife of town, with shops and restaurants and things to do on both sides. They are just so "open" and feel less crowded, with top tier entertainment.

One of my absolute favorite things to do is every evening I go to the upper floor of the Promenade section of the ship at Shooner's Piano Bar (main corridor where all the shops are, and some bars, and entrance to the main theater). The upper level has a great lookout over the live band that plays there every single evening... then after the band finishes after about an hour, you end up getting super relaxed and casual live piano music up there for the next 3hrs, or however long you want to stay. Absolutely top tier entertainment.

The best thing, there's a dozen other places at that very moment I could go with awesome things to do, from the jazz bar, to the more night-club scene for younger crowd if you wanted, to just spending time going to shows, games, or lounging on deck, or eating at a dozen free different places to go.

The reality is this... it all depends on what you are looking for. I like RC Oasis class because they are big, modern, upscale, but not premium/luxury priced, or too stuffy. It's big resort style cruising. But, if you're say, a foodie, or trying to find a more subdued, quiet, kid-free, premium style sailing experience, you might want to look at more premium and luxury lines. 100% kid free is Virgin Voyages, which is super hot right now, though I have yet to try them. I've never been bothered by kids ever on cruises, personally, but I know some people get weird about them because they are used to total subdued vibes on luxury cruising, and are blown away by the rowdiness of kids at the swimming pool with the water slides lol.

Everyone has personal preferences, so you basically have to figure out what you enjoy. I HIGHLY recommend watching the youtube channel "Tips for Travelers" by Gary Benbridge if you are trying to find your own personal preference as a first-time cruiser. He has some really great videos I completely agree with in terms of people's preferences and what the various cruise lines offer.

I LOVE cruising though. You just need to do it once, imo, to find what you do and don't love, what you would and wouldn't buy next time, and so on. I mean, for example, I have a friend who did a 7 night sailing and got the $90/day drink package, which after gratuities and fee, and taxes, it was like $850 extra, but it was unlimited drinks including premium top shelf. By day 2 he was rocking a hangover that last 2 days and partially ruined his cruise lol. He was drinking water and barely drinking at all by the tail end of the cruise, and he said next time he'll just pay for the drinks he actually gets because he just doesn't have the stamina for unlimited lol. Took him a cruise to figure that out. You just don't really know what you are going to truly love, experience, want to do when you cruise until you really get out there and do it.

Wish you the best!

They still occasionally run pretty good deals. I typically like to book direct through the cruise line when I am booking 12+ months out, but I have done some 3 day cruise sailing that were only a month away through them as a killer deal popped up. My guess is the cruise line is like "Crap, we still have vacancy, let's fill up these last rooms with one of our partners," and they authorize some good deals.

I recently had an Alaska cruise booked with Princess. I tried calling their customer service line three times to have a few questions answered. I talked to three different people and it was a horrible experience each time. I cancelled the cruise and booked with NCL. I've spoken with their customer service a few times and they have all been very pleasant and helpful. My theory is if customer service is horrible before the cruise, then what should we expect on the cruise. I have never cruised with Princess or NCL, but I feel safer taking the chance with NCL. Just something to consider.

On a cruise as well. Sick as a dog. They wanted 150 to see the doctor. Skipped two ports due to weather. It's like a jail
