The last time (this year) GWL had a good promo, it was a mess to purchase. There was an impossibly long waiting room to purchase.
Yep. Never again. Really have to wait in line to buy online…

Is it worth going to GWL even during December - Indoors and heated?

They wont have any real good deals except weekday schooldays. But I can always look.
They held some big sale like 4, 5 months ago. I went into a que that I had to check periodically and not miss when my time came. Waited like 6 hours and the browsing was clunky, and all the deals were for week days. Didn't even seem like that good of a deal when I was in the check out and I bailed on the whole thing. Felt like such a waste of time to "just look" but I may have done it all wrong

You did it right. It's part of their system now and it's awful. I'm assuming it's a method to get people to impulse book because "it took you 6 hours to get in don't want to miss out!" Truly an awful booking experience for mediocre pricing at best.

Whats a good age range for kids to enjoy this type of place, is it across the board or specific age band?

The advertised prices are false. The booking process is a nightmare. But the actual water park is fairly enjoyable if you have young kids and can stand the constant loud ambient noise. Stay away from the kids' casino disguised as a video arcade. It's a ripoff.

I have 3 kids and me, which is the better deal?
We booked a room for dec 5 for 9 people and it was 249 per night. With the Black Friday deal it's $25 per person x 9 would be $495 which isn't great.

I really wanted to HATE GWL, but we took our kids last year with my sister's family and I'll admit, it was pretty fun. They will nickel and dime you on some stuff, but if you are smart about eating and other activities, this can be a great weekend idea in the middle of winter.

Honestly Kids are kids and they will enjoy these places and wont know the reality of how old the place is or how expensive the stay is and how everything is nickel and dime everything is and their arcade that is a money pit!

A lot of GWLs are old btw so keep that in mind and now with all these parking fees, resort fees and bs its annoying.

Agreed! Sometimes it is worth paying extra for experiences that they will always remember.

We went to the Williamsburg, VA location, so no parking fees. There was a Chick-fil-A and a local BBQ place within a mile, so we did those for dinner, with snacks from Walmart during the day. My sister insisted she buy my daughter one of those stupid wand things that they sell and when I realized it was like $75, I about had a stroke. Of course, as soon as we got home, my 2 year old broke it...

I've been to a couple, in different states, with family. They both had 90% of the water park indoors (and heated). The outdoor portions were just a small splash pad.

All ages really enjoyed the water parks. The younger kids (under 10) seemed to really enjoy the Magic Quest, but they got frustrated with how many of the interactive items were broken.

Research your specific location, because there was a shocking gap in quality between the two locations. At the nicer one, there were still broken magic quest items, but only a few. At the other one, the kids gave up in tears after the 10th broken item.

Also there was a huge difference in the water parks. One was at least double in size. Both were still pretty great, but given that the price was about the same for each, the difference was surprising.

The worse location also had dirtiet rooms, ruder staff, etc., and the kids were unable to redeem several items on their "paw pass" because those attractions were broken or just didn't open due to understaffing.

Like I said, I've only been to two locations, so ymmv.

There's no such thing as a Great Wolf Lodge deal unless you're willing to stay Tuesday to Thursday.

Complained to the manager of an OH location about food poisoning, my entire family got sick and we only ate at the lodge. After weeks of waiting they never followed back up on my complaint. The kids had fun at the park and doing the magiquest, but we won't be returning.
