Doesn't this work without port? Cant I open new line since I already have account and other lines? Am I missing something?
It will work with just getting a new number however you have to go to BB store to set up the new number and account while with porting in a number all can be done online.

Ok so I've done everything. Everything worked great thank you! Now I'm having issues cancelling AT&T. I spoke with them through chat and they requested a passcode. I never made a passcode or at least I dont remember making a passcode. I gave them the only pass code I could think of and it didn't work. They attempted to reset my pass code by texting me a temporary pin. I received the pin and sent it to them but they said it was incorrect. They said that I would need to wait 48 hours to try to reset my pin again. They then asked me if I brought my own device or if I purchased a new device. I told them that I brought my own. Should I tell them that bought the phone with it or just stick to saying I brought my own device? The device is already unlocked but I'm worried that I'm breaking some law or something.
I had the same issue but CS agent sent a one time pass code to the same att line that I was canceling so I dint had to provide pass code

I used the email tied to my account and a tmobile number.
I would wait a bit between steps, don't hammer it trying 10 times at once. For example I had a stale att account from the Cingular days and it took about an hour to get an email stating that my old and new accounts were merged. Same goes for the account activation...I din't see anything regarding my phone/plan until I received the "come pick up your phone, it's ready" email from best buy. That email coincided with the one from ATT labeled "a new phone number has been added to your account". Then was I only able to log in and view everything.
Regarding the unlock, did you approve the unlock request? You first get an email labeled "Confirm your device unlock request within 24 hours" that you need to click on the confirm your request link which in turn triggers the unlock email. Took about a minute to receive the unlock email after confirming.
Yes, when I tried to confirm the request I got that network error, this morning I tried and magically it worked I dint do anything new than last night..

Finally, completed everything, ordered on Monday with next day delivery for 19$ . Got a new tellow esim to provide porting info. Got it on Tuesday, activated it made few calls, swaped sim into unlocked phone to reflect in att but had issue in confirming the unlock request, Wednesday morning unlock request worked and got it unlocked, called CS and got line canceled, CS confirmed I don't have any balance and canceled it.

If you ordered online, when did att activated the account? What I read is that the moment order is placed, your phone gets activated meaning you will be playing activation fees + first month ..

Did you have to pay for the first month of service? I got a bill for my first month + activation fee but I received the phone after 3 days so I don't think I can waive the activation fee.

It's gets activated when placing an order, it asks for port info while placing the order, and within a few hours, I could see both the phone model and my number in the att account info. And just to avoid activation fees and charges, I did opt for next day delivery, so I was able to get everything done within 3 days, which will avoid all the costs

Nope, CS told me that I don't have any balances and can forget about that line. I finished everything within 3 days, so not sure how billing works after 3 days.

It never asked for a PIN while entering porting info, I had to check the porting status after few hours in the link provided and there it asked me to provide a pin since tello would require a pin for port out.

Anyone have luck getting a prorate charge or avoiding the full first month of ATT plan? I'm getting billed the full month and rep over Chat said I can't prorate.

I received my phone past the 3 day window to waive the activation fee.

Two of my cards have $75 off(two transactions of $37.5) for ATT. Fine print says for services only(not for device purchase). Not sure if "plan only" is even enforceable since both will show up as ATT.

One is a WellsFargo card and other is Chase.
