I just got the USB-C version, upgraded from the (same) lightning version. I don't have the old ones anymore to compare directly, but these new ones feel like a higher quality build based.

If anyone has both in hand, I'd be super curious to know if there's any merit to this or if I'm just appreciating a brand new product instead of one I've worn down.

That a good point. I ended up getting the usbc because I'd love to just get rid of of all my lightning accessories but completely forgot about the wireless charging option lol

Wireless charging is a good point but I'm thinking extra $20 might be worth to have the earbuds and case dust-resistant vs. the Lightning version not having a rating for dust resistance.
