WARNING! Like almost all laundry detergents advertised to be "free and clear," this type of Tide still has fluorescent brighteners in it, which make your dark colors fade.

I don't know how laundry detergent manufacturers get away with this. "Fluorescent brighteners" are dyes. There are only a few detergents that are really "free and clear". The best list I've found is at this website: https://yourclothdiaper.com/laund...pful-list/

The only detergents I can commonly find at stores that are really "free and clear" are Seventh Generation, and Atsko Sport-Wash which is very expensive and usually in the hunting section. Walmart used to have a store brand but they discontinued it.

Why is this important? If you want your dark clothes to stay dark, and not get dingy and faded-looking as you wash them, you have to use detergent that is actually "free and clear." If you don't mind scented detergent, you can use Woolite Dark.
It's a dollar off the regular price. Just in case you looked at the SD graph up there and thought this is a steal.

Nice. It's on the low risk end of causing cancer. I may consider 🙂

Try out the products from Truly Free. They are non-toxic and work at least as well as Tide.

"It works with both High Efficiency (HE) and standard washing machines."

Why the container does not have the "he" label?

Brighteners also cause pilling, especially when washing in hot water od drying with high heat. Truly Free's detergent does not have brighteners and it works great even in cold.

Is this Tide really better than something like this 150 oz (115 load) Purex that's <$10 every day?

Yes, Tide is much better at removing oil, dirt, etc. than Purex, especially at lower water temperatures. When I worked in the business (10 years ago, at a P&G competitior), Tide was the gold standard at cleaning the lab soiled fabrics that we tested. Purex was bottom tier (along with various natural detergents and store brands, though Kirkland was pretty good). That said, if we were testing everyday clothing, Purex cleaned well enough as long as it wasn't stained, sweated-through, etc.

Free and sensitive is how I like my women. 89 loads, not so much.
