I just purchased via Amazon as HD and can confirm both Movies Anywhere and Apple TV say HD. There is no 4k upgrade on this purchase. Buyer beware.

These really redeem in only HD, not 4k. but they are movies anywhere.

May help to open (watch) the movies and check again. Could also check "Watch in HDR" for the movies in the Apple library.
You likely will not find the movies in that section of the library.

MA Movies purchased outside of iTunes ( ie Amazon) as HD will transfer as HD in iTunes.

HD to 4K digital upgrades are only for movies purchased on iTunes.

I think if you buy HD they show up as HD.

Correct. I purchased via Amazon for $5 and they are now in my Apple TV app and iTunes via MA with free 4k upgrade.
