Target also has it for this price, save another 5% with RedCard.
You're not wrong. I'm sick of  skimping on storage, but if this is a secondary device that's mainly a screen for streaming and browsing, or even just kids' apps, then the storage will be fine.
It's been about this price for the past year now, it always goes on sale for $250 so one year later and it's only $20 cheaper, but your one year closer to not being able to receive updates because Apple wants you to keep buying new devices.

paying by credit card would have helped you in what way ?
Lots of credit cards will add a year to the standard manufacturer warranty. You'll go through the credit card and their coverage provider after the initial warranty period.

I think the big limiter here is storage. Gonna blow through that 64GB storage fast…

Had an OG iPad Air and 32GB went quickly even though apps back in the day when app were quite a bit smaller. I would play the juggling game on what to delete and what to keep on to download other apps. I try to buy my Apple devices with atleast one tier up in storage when possible.
I still use my ipad 5th gen (2017) and it used 27 of the 32gb storage. I have lots of apps, don't have any games or take pic/videos. I can get squeeze by and I never juggled the storage. I think I can get by with 64gb internal on a 2021 ipad. My old 2017 iPad still works pretty well even today.

No surprise Apple treating customers like that. Their goal is maximizing bottom line.
Remember they got caught forcing updates that slowed down ipads and iphones?

Then they said it was to save battery life. No one at Apple took responsibility for it.
That's because it was to save battery life. I aint saying what they did is justified because its not.

Extended warranty. My Chase provides an extra year on purchases. I've used it on a MacBook Air that had an issue outside of warranty.

That was the explanation for it. If you're into pc building/overclocking etc. you understand cpus take some amount of power to increase performance. Other way around you downclock a cpu by undervolting, same goes for videocards. Save electricity by sacrificing performance right?

Apple slowed down their tablets and phones without telling the people who owned them. How would you like it if one day your car drove alot slower. Then someone figured out the update patch it downloaded over the air had a code in it that killed fifty horses in your engine. Then the manufacturer said it was to save gas.

Apple got caught sabotaging its own products to make people buy their new stuff. It's plain as day. Apple worshipers with money won't go along with it but that's pretty much what happened.
