there are too many different models. dumb of dyson to make so many models. how many models does one need? they don't they just do two, one high end one low end? there are dozens of dyson vacuums. really dumb and makes it confusing. it shouldn't be so confusing to buy a vacuum. making me consider buying another type of vacuum.

Where'd you get them from? What failed? My refurb V6 has lasted 5 years now and I wish it would die so I could justify a new one.

How are dyson stick vacuums with dog hair? My current (cheap one from Amazon) gets clogged every time from my German Shepherds hair.

Dysons are horrible. I went through two V10s within one year. Battery quality degrades very fast.
Damn, sorry to hear that. I have had the v7 (animal version i think) for three years and the battery seems to hold up well for us. We used it everyday and go days without charging it

It's basically every thread that they do this with now. Every Grubhub, Uber, Doordash thread is loaded with people that hate those services. Makes me wonder if they set deal alerts to make sure we all know they think it's awful, because it's every. single. time. Every candy/food item thread is loaded with people who don't eat sugar and want to shame anyone who does.

It's hard enough keeping up with all of the stuff I am interested in. Truly makes you wonder how tough it would be to click on everything you're NOT interested in.

Why is it every time there's a Dyson deal posted you get a bunch of people who have nothing better to do with their life than go into the thread and rip Dyson? If you don't want to buy a Dyson, just skip over the deal, it's not that hard.
I AM interested in a Dyson, but being new to the Dyson ecosystem I have no clue which model to get. And Dyson does NOT make it easy. There website is terrible and you cannot easily compare the dozens of models they actively sell. It's a PITA. Just because some folks may be critical about your beloved Dyson there is no need to think they are trolling. Why don't you help instead of complaining about these critical posts?

The whole ordeal is putting me off buying a Dyson. Might get the Samsung instead.

Is there anything better than Dyson for animals and battery life? I've had my Dyson stick animal version for couple of years. Bought it new. I have had to replace the batter several times. I have tried numerous on amazon and they just don't last. It does an Ok job with my labradors hair but gets clogged up too easily. I'm just wondering if there is anything better out there.

My V10 has been working for 5-6 years now. Battery life is still good. You know they have an excellent warranty I'd just bring yours to the store they'd probably replace the battery.

Costco has the V15 Detect Total Clean Extra - comes with 4 or 5 more attachments than those listed in this deal for $499. https://www.costco.com/dyson-v15-...ue&nf=true
It's comical to me that this reply went unnoticed and didn't at least get a mention on the main post. In for Costco deal worship

You should know the battery is replaceable and replacing one is like 20-30 usd at Amazon if you are a handyman.
Yes, I've read about replacing batteries however, the battery shouldn't die out that fast especially if Dyson is selling vacuums for $500+

For what it's worth, I think Dysons are overrated. I may have had a lemon and I have kids who help vacuum, so take this for what it's worth. But here are my complaints that may be universal to their vacuums or could have been what made mine a bit of a lemon.

It did work in that it charged, ran for a while, vacuumed up junk, etc, for over a year. But the whole time we had it I was unimpressed, and the small things add up. Here are my complaints:
  • You have to hold down the power button the whole time you're vacuuming. This is just dumb design and my wife and kids didn't like it.
  • I was the only one in the house who could use the attachments. The connection between parts are very tight and it's not easy to disconnect pieces. And the plastic pieces that kept the vacuum together all broke on mine, so we had to tape the shaft to the canister/motor to keep it together. Tape together a vacuum? That's ridiculous.
  • Emptying the canister was difficult and my oldest son and I were the only ones who could do it. You have to shove down on this plastic red thing to get the canister to open, and that shoving is what opens the trap. It seems like there's no spring involved and it was a tight fit that was difficult to open. Again, dumb design.
  • The vacuum clogs easily and I was constantly unclogging it. Also if the filter isn't almost perfectly clean, the vacuum would give us a filter error mode thing and it wouldn't work. I was always doing dirt surgery to clean out the thing. If it has such a strong motor, why can't they design the thing so dirt flows easily into the canister? Another dumb design issue.
  • Finally the brush roller thing stopped working on my vacuum and I happily threw the motor into the garbage. I wasn't at all sad when I threw the motor away, that's how much I hated that vacuum.
I had the V10. We've since bought a less expensive Shark stick vacuum from Walmart and so far it's been much easier to use and doesn't have most of the problems I listed above.

Have had Dyson products - vacuums, fans, hair dryer, for over 10 years combined. I have experienced no issues with a Dyson product literally ever.
lucky!

I've had two vacuums (v6 and v7 roller fail) in last 5 years. I've had the V7 HEPA for 3 years and replaced the battery just now. Had to replace the battery with the in laws version too (2 years old). Once this fails, I'll be moving to another brand as there's much more competition now than when stick vacuums weren't as popular.

As for other products, we have the hair dryer and humidifier and both are good. But honestly, these are a bit overpriced for what they are (and they discontinued the humidifier anyways... it's such a PITA to clean especially if you live in area with hard water).

p.s. the whole attachments thing is a racket, imho. I have 4 different attachments, and living in a condo, I rarely use more than just the crevise tool regularly. I got the brush attachment (the one that rolls, and is made for pets), and use it couple times a year for the sofa (we don't have pets).

I love my V10 but I did have trouble emptying it, felt like it was about to break each time. Then after a number of months I noticed moving the slide handle 10-15 degrees forward unlocked it then it easily slid forward and emptied. It was probably in the instructions which I never read 😃

If you use it on boost all the time, the battery will die pretty quickly. Our v10 battery is shot after about 18 months as our secondary/handheld vacuum. We used mainly for carpeted stairs and quick spot cleans, a lot of times on boost. It collects an insane amount of dust but just not designed for frequent boost

I can see why you would have that opinion if you spent that much money only to have it die on you outside of warranty. As others mentioned, replacement batteries can be bought for very cheap aftermarket and can last longer than oem, I have replaced mine twice and my v6 has been going on at least 8 years now. Battery life aside, the vacuum itself has been fantastic but probably time for an upgrade!
