there are too many different models. dumb of dyson to make so many models. how many models does one need? they don't they just do two, one high end one low end? there are dozens of dyson vacuums. really dumb and makes it confusing. it shouldn't be so confusing to buy a vacuum. making me consider buying another type of vacuum.
I have both an 8 and 11. The battery life is terrible. The 11 is a stronger vac but the 8 is a good sweet spot. Once the battery dies, instead of buying a replacement, there is an aftermarket adapter that allows you to use the batteries from most major brand power tools. Choose the one that corresponds with your tools, remove 3 screws and you are done. Unfortunately they have not made a version for the V11 as of yet.
Personally I am deep in the dewalt ecosystem. So I bought the version that allowed all of my dewalt batteries to be hot swapped. No more issues with batteries running out and having to wait for a recharge.
I wound up grabbing a refurbished V8 Absolute from the Dyson eBay store for $200. Same warranty for $100 less than the new one in this deal.
That is not completely true. Looking at the eBay listing it isn't the same warranty program. The difference is that your warranty is through eBay (Allstate), not directly from Dyson like when you buy it new. The Dyson warranty for a refurbished item is only 6 months to 1 year and based on the item specifics section it looks like it is only 6 months for the v8. I actually got the v8 absolute brand new from Dyson for $240 when stacked with the 20% cash back offer that was available on 11/21. Personally, I'd rather pay the extra $40 to have a brand new unit.

The v8 Absolute is now showing $280 direct through the Dyson site.
Plus, you can use the cash back website that starts with r to get 12% cash back. Technically not as good as yesterday's deal but still good which was $300 with 20% cash back.

Thank you. I just bought V8 for $280 with 22% cashback. It's 22% because I am a new member.
I AM interested in a Dyson, but being new to the Dyson ecosystem I have no clue which model to get. And Dyson does NOT make it easy. There website is terrible and you cannot easily compare the dozens of models they actively sell. It's a PITA. Just because some folks may be critical about your beloved Dyson there is no need to think they are trolling. Why don't you help instead of complaining about these critical posts?
The whole ordeal is putting me off buying a Dyson. Might get the Samsung instead.
If you have mostly hard floors (not carpet), the fluffy attachment is a must.
If you wanted the absolute best performance one: Gen5Detect Absolute ($$$)
If you wanted the cheapest (they still perform really well): V8 Absolute ($299)
If you wanted the best deal imho; V12 Slim Absolute ($399)

The Dyson v8 absolute new and direct from Dyson for $279.99 with 12% cash back is a slick deal if you ask me. Cash back might go back up to 20% on Black Friday or Cyber Monday though.

You're right, I didn't notice that it was Allstate. I was on the eBay app. The 20% off at $240 makes a better deal. I missed that by a few hours
