Common suggestion here... If battery is dying stop using boost. That's fine for hardwood floors but just not practical if you have shedding dogs and carpets. I spent a lot of money for my dysons. Can't Dyson simply put a battery that will last for people who have pets and carpets?

If anyone is interested, the V10 absolute (refurb) seems to be back in stock for $280 at Dyson via eBay.

Where'd you get them from? What failed? My refurb V6 has lasted 5 years now and I wish it would die so I could justify a new one.
Where do you buy the batteries for your V6?

I have bought three aftermarket batteries and each of them lasted less than a year.

I've had mine for many years. Best thing I did was when the battery died was to put this on:

YES---I was about to respond to thread and say same thing. It is MUCH better than the stock battery (which is SUPER expensive and never in stock). I use Ryobi 18v 4amp batteries and I can vacuum my entire house on MAX. Not as clean as stock but who GAF its a vacuum cleaner.

thank you both! I had no idea these existed.

The V8 absolute is a beast if you have hardwood and pets. We ended up with a second one and they have yet to have any major issues. The oldest one is a refurb on eBay from Dyson's outlet bought in 2017, arrived with full warranty because the previous owner never registered it I guess, and the only thing with it is now if you use MAX it will be out of power in like 20 seconds.

using it on normal still gives enough runtime for multiple rooms, carpet and hardwood.

the hardwood brush head alone is worth it.

I like the v8 Absolute... older model but it gets the job done, is cheaper, and lots of 3rd party stuff/parts available for it.
I bought at the same price last year. Being this old o would expect this year it should be cheaper. Not a good deal for a v8

Dysons are horrible. I went through two V10s within one year. Battery quality degrades very fast.
Sort of agree with the battery part. I also own a LG vacuum with dual batteries that came out more expensive than the V6 I bought 5 years ago. Dyson was by far so much better in every way. The design was so much better making it so much easier to disassemble for cleaning. Don't get me started with sound. Dyson is like an EV while the LG is like a diesel truck. Cleaning wise, dyson also cleans far better. The only good thing about LG is the dual batteries.

Just curious, do people really pay $750 for a vacuum?

I'm in the market for a cordless vacuum, but I can't justify the cost of something that can break easily when it hits the floor a little too hard. I have been happily using the v6 for over five years and have replaced the canister twice and the battery three times.

Looks nice but my Dyson Animal plug-in is a beast. Is it that hard to wrap the cord back? Given no batteries and unlimited power.

It's not about that. It's about large houses with difficult to get to places and long stairs.

You have to unplug and plug, use extension cords, get entangled in ways that are not an issue in a studio apartment or a small house.

Agreed. Those names tell me nothing. I guess V11 is the best one???

Even on the Dyson website they don't provide a easy to read chart to determine the differences. You have to click on each and try to figure it out yourself. It's a joke.
There IS a comparison chart that shows you the differences. It's on the cordless vacuum page on their website, as well as the help-me-choose-quiz you claim you can't find.
