In my personal use I need a strong gamer as well as a strong worker. I don't feel shorted at all in terms of gaming and i have 24 threads on tap. runs cool and quiet under a 2x140mm radiator.

The AMD series is good for gamers, especially casual gamers who can benefit from X3D.
However, if you're doing anything else that can benefit from multiple cores (including "while gaming" with chrome, firefox and other apps "doing things" like discord or streaming) then the AMD will drop off in terms of performance as they'll cap out on the parallel threads that will be run by the OS.
If you match the CPU for gaming, don't forget to match the mobo for memory, m.2 and other performance. If you're still on SATA or DDR4, then the mobo will matter less. But if you're wanting DDR5, pushing 8000mhz and a m.2 gen 5 to run Win 11 and direct storage, then you're going to want a newer (and more expensive) mobo.

Remember, these exact chips undervolt to 65 watts with little performance drop. Just enable "eco mode" on any updated BIOS. Sips power, air cool easily, whisper quiet, but has 12 cores ready to spool up for video editing or 3D cad etc
