I'm a noob trying to get into 3D printing. How much tinkering did you do before printing out a piece without issue? I don't much care about size (since I would be mostly printing small practical/precision pieces), and price differences don't matter too much in this range. I'm torn between this and the Bambu A1 Mini. Does the Sovol have a steep learning curve vs the Bambu? Any feedback would be appreciated

I've been 3D printing for ~5 years, though I've only owned yo own printers for 2 years.

To answer your question, I bolted it together, turned it on, and had to set the Z-height offset (distance between the nozzle and bed) with a sheet of paper. Then, I had my first successful test print that came with the printer. It was really simple. I had to do some tweeking after I installed klipper, which is when I had my first failed print. I expected it, but I wanted to see what happened. Nothing bad, just printing spaghetti.😅

The Bambu will be an easier learning curve for sure

If you don't care about the size get the A1. Just be sure you don't actually care about the size, because the size difference between the two is drastic. Just FYI, there's a steep learning curve with any printer. New concepts and new software to learn.

i got this 3d printer when it was on sale a few months ago. It's my third printer, and by far it's been the easiest I've used (the previous two were ender's.) I just need to hit auto level, adjust the z-offset, and I was done To this day I barely had to recalibrate, whereas my Ender 3 S1 is not perfect even after installing "professional firmware' on that.

If you're looking to print small precision you should look at the SLA printers. Elegoo has a black Friday sale right now you can get a mid sized sla Saturn S 4K for $199 plus $10 off if you play their email spin to win game

I've never heard of Sovol before this year and honestly looking at the specs here it seems too good to be true they give you so much for the price point I'm not sure where the catch is. People trying this out for the first time I'd suggest trying one of these if you can't get an expensive bambu or a hand me down prusa

I have this. Support is non existent. Had to replace the hotend after 2 weeks. Did I mention that support is non existent?

*Everything I wrote was for a different printer and has been removed.*

I really enjoyed my SV06+. Basically no complaints except for one. Unfortunately, the one complaint was big enough for me to return it. The machine has a design flaw with the stress relief for the bed cable. They have updated the model to provide better stress relief. However, with my printer after about a week the stress relief part got very loose and was actually blocking the entire print from happening because it hit the frame. Fun fact, the bolts for the stress relief cable are basically welded over. So after a few failed attempts I decided fixing this flaw was silly.

Otherwise great printer for the week I had it.

Now I have the K1 which you can get for about 400$ on sale. It was 300$ recently. It has its own problems but it's less tinkering. The main problem I'm having is that it's just so freaking fast if you don't restrict it.

Would recommend the Sovol easily if you get a good stress relief mod.

A person trying to get into 3D printing should not go immediately to 3d printing resin. Resin is toxic to the touch and needs to be correctly washed before use. A beginner would be going way too deep too fast to understand how to handle resin safely.

I bought my 8 year old the Ender 3 V3 SE for $180 shipped on Alie*** and he and I bolted it together in like 10 minutes and hit level and was printing about 10 min later. No tinkering whatsoever and it prints pretty fast for a non-klippered machine. Hes been printing non stop for the past 3 weeks without needing to do anything. Just slice and print. Would highly recommend to anyone young or just new to 3d printing.

We've been using resin for decades it's not new, how can we say what he's capable of handling. As far as new at 3D printing goes sla printers are the easiest imo for new people because there's no fighting with leveling the bed, no getting the right temps for both hot ends and bed, having to use glue sticks or painters tape to get it to stay on the bed, kinda just works out of the box. Anyway he seems to know what he wants from his printer and I think he should get the right tool for it

That's not the larger "Plus" version.

Have had one of these for about a year and can't recommend it. Really wanted to love it, has a large print area. I've never gotten a print out of this that I've been happy with. For reference, I upgraded from a little monoprice mini delta to the sv06+. The MP was a little workhorse. The sv06 is a big, finicky pita. And as another commenter wrote, there is absolutely no support from Sovol.
