Sony introduced the global shutter in A9III, so the talk of the town is soon they'll introduce that feature in their other models and other manufacturers will figure a way to do that too. So all these current models will seem like previous generation compared those.

Don't get me wrong. If you're jumping from an old DSLR to an R5, it will be leaps and bounds.

A9III is a $6000 body, it will be a very very long time before that feature trickles down into lower priced bodies. Be lucky to see that feature in an R3MKII or even the R1.

No. The A9iii with global shutter is a $6,000 camera. Don't assume it means global shutter will be in $2,000 and $3,000 cameras any time soon.
Also, the R5 is a 45mp camera and the Sony is 25mp. So you need to know whether you need the high res or not.
Only rumored for February due to CP+ show in Japan. There's no announcement yet and there will likely be pre-orders taken before delivery. Figure three month wait or more after that. Then come firmware updates.

I'm a CPS Platinum member. I spoke to my rep a few months back. Was told to hold off buying the R5 until February when the Mk II would be announced.

Exactly. Expected to be announced and then we wait, just like the current wait on the three new lenses. Except with cameras, there are always firmware updates too. As a platinum member it's probably important you get yours first. As a gold member, I'll be checking the black friday page here in a year and maybe save $800.
