Amazon charges you tax.

But buying from within the console charges NO tax, because every Nintendo Switch sold is coincidentally being used in an Oregon zip code. Zero exceptions. It's a geological wonder.

Not to mention various ways to get cheaper eShop credit that can be used...

PSA - if let membership lapse over 6 months Nintendo will wipe away all your cloud data. I took a break from gaming then return to find out this. All my smash bro unlocks … gone. BOTW with fully collected yahaha's… gone.

My own fault for not checking the terms but I just assumed once I pay again they'd recover my saves but no it's actually wiped from their servers. Just so people are aware.

This is the biggest factor preventing me from picking up a switch again.

Nah, nothing missed. Just the notion that it's 10% off w/out taxes. Great for someone new to the Switch, but very lukewarm for the 99% of life unless you're hitting it with Target's 5% or whatnots

Heads up - Nintendo is now offering 20% of the membership cost back in gold coins for future use for your Nintendo purchases. Offer valid 11/21/2023 through 12/6/2023 (Pacific time). the best deal right now is to buy a $20 nintendo eshop card at a 15% discount from target (redcard required) and then buy the membership directly from nintendo and get $4 worth of gold back

Typically you don't need to buy the NSO membership through Nintendo to get the 20% back, the code redemption should work as well. This is how their promos like this have worked in the past and the terms and conditions mention this exact scenario. So, you could get 15% total off the membership directly at target (10% + 5% with a red card) and achieve the same thing without the additional step of buying eshop credit and then buying the membership, no?

Also folks with Amazon credit cards get similar savings as the red card with the additional 5% back.

Yes, as mentioned, you can stack up to 3 years with some exceptions. For example, if you are currently on an individual membership with 6 months left and you add a family membership then they do not stack, but run concurrently.
