If your car (head radio unit) has wired Android Auto or/and Carplay capability, this device makes it wireless. So it basically makes the connection between your car and your android phone or your iPhone wireless. Instead of plugging in USB cable from your car to your phone every time to make connection, you plug this device in to your USB port on your car, and the connection to your phone would be wireless.

Hopefully I won't confuse you even more.

Purchased 2 on the last deal, got pretty scared after seeing some of the comments that this is a shill post and these aren't good but I've been running one in my car and one in my wife's car for CarPlay for the last 2-3 weeks and they work just as good as the Motorola MA1 worked for me which I believe is pretty universally regarded as the best Android Auto device. Also a whole lot easier to setup. No regrets so far.

Biggest drawback which is Pass for me: you cannot pair this with multiple phones. Some other similar devices have that functionality

There is no free return and probably no return at all. If you want this brand better to get from Amazon for $54 right now.

Thanks. Submitted cancellation request.

Can you install other apps from the google play store? Specifically I want to know if I can install Plex, so that I can watch videos from my Plex server on my screen (when parked of course). Or is there AT LEAST a decent built-in browser? If so, I could always use that instead of the native app.

I have another one of these boxes (different brand) and it doesn't have a browser nor does it all installing anything, so while it works, it is lacking a few features.

This is only for carplay, different functionality than the one in discussion here (supports both carplay and AA).

Okay, I know I'm an ignorant older person, but what does this thing do? Can it start my car a few minutes before I go out so it's warm when I get in?

Yes only car play. But seems much better if you don't need AA

I have one and have occasional stutters as well as a complete drop on longer trips. Otherwise it works well. Anyone have any potential fixes to this issue (am on latest update).

I had one for a while last winter. It turned out to be a real POS and would start glitching and lagging on drives over 20 minutes using maps.

Also, I believe some of the reviews saying it fried their USB ports, because I noticed how hot this thing got (even in freezing temps).

I would recommend using with caution.

The Costco deal is for a different brand. I've been using this brand for a long time, and I love it, rarely are there issues (once every 4-6 months I have to unplug it and plug it back in), but Carlinkit has been great for me.

ALL of these I have tried (multiple now) have a 1-3 second delay on audio, AND take 10-15 seconds to connect when starting the car. Perfectly fine for most things, but I've had the audio delay affect my driving when I needed faster instructions in maps. Just know that the audio WILL have a delay.

With this one, you can go into the settings (through your browser) and set the audio delay to 300ms instead of the default 1000ms. The only time I notice a delay now is when I hit forward/rewind during a podcast, and even then it's minimal. I haven't found that option on any other device I tried.

Is it easy to switch phones when 2 drivers are using the same car? I returned MA1 1.5 years ago because it was a royal pain.

I accidentally placed the order because the "submit" button is labelled "continue". Very sneaky. How good is their return policy?

Looks like a run of the mill Chinese vendor website. Won't be easy.
FWIW their customer service is actually really good. I had my order from the previous deal either stolen or accidentally opened in transit and was delivered an empty padded envelope. They sent me a replacement within a week, no questions asked.
