If your car (head radio unit) has wired Android Auto or/and Carplay capability, this device makes it wireless. So it basically makes the connection between your car and your android phone or your iPhone wireless. Instead of plugging in USB cable from your car to your phone every time to make connection, you plug this device in to your USB port on your car, and the connection to your phone would be wireless.

Hopefully I won't confuse you even more.

Purchased 2 on the last deal, got pretty scared after seeing some of the comments that this is a shill post and these aren't good but I've been running one in my car and one in my wife's car for CarPlay for the last 2-3 weeks and they work just as good as the Motorola MA1 worked for me which I believe is pretty universally regarded as the best Android Auto device. Also a whole lot easier to setup. No regrets so far.

Biggest drawback which is Pass for me: you cannot pair this with multiple phones. Some other similar devices have that functionality

I own this, and it's nice when it works, but the intermittent connectivity drop results in poor user experience. Ended up getting another branded dongle by MMB CarPlay adapter and I've noticed it's been pretty solid and it's connects a tad faster than the Carlinkit 5.0.

Here is the asin number if anyone is curious on the exact item: B0CHP9RFFQ
All these -1 not helpful… lol. Bro, I own this and I'm saying as it is, based on first hand experience… the Carlinkit 5.0 performance is average.

I bought one of these but could not get it too work on my wife's 2015 GMC Acadia Denali. Do these work on all cars or does it need to be a certain year/infotainment setup?

Thank you. I thought it would give a car with an infotainment system that does not have AA or ACP that functionality.

I got this after my motorola m1 was fried in Californian heat. This works, but it was super duper unreliable. It would disconnect automatically and would not reconnect unless I plug it out and in. I still used it for good 3-4 months until it did that during a long trip and just before a crucial complicated turn while getting in new york. Got the m1 again. In short, this thing was an agony with my Mazda cx5.

Update: tested on a 1-hour drive. Worked fine most of the trip. Occasionally the screen "flashed" black for like half a second. Also the screen froze a couple times. Not a deal breaker yet. Will see.

Never know this thing existed! I just bought one off Amazon for $60 so I can return if it doesn't work. It works like a charm! I use CarPlay all the time for Google Maps. Will need to test this over long driving section to see how well it connects. But so far I'm impressed.

P/S: I have a 2020 Honda Ridgeline semi truck

I got this other than wireless car-play these suck and disconnect on there own if you use the web .You have to unplug the device and plug it in to get working again. You cant play movies on this one. Unit get super hot and tape provide works about a week. I would look for a better one and save your money.

I have an earlier version (like v1 or v2) of this and have 2 iPhones paired with it. I don't use it much these days because of start up time and audio lag. I believe those are better with the newer versions. But did they get rid of pairing multiple phones??
No, you can absolutely pair this with multiple phones. That guy doesn't know what he's talking about. You get a menu when it starts up that lets you pick which paired phone you want to connect to.

I've been using one of these for a few months and so far, it does exactly what it's supposed to do. I like it.

Does anyone know if this device can make your phone screen to broadcast on to the car deck? I don't want carplay.

so this only works for newer cars that has a screen? won't work on an old 2012 Accord with backup camera or any of the LCD screens?

Been a roller coaster reading through this thread. Ultimately decided against buying this product. Can anyone recommend a brand for wired>wireless android auto that you can program at least 2 phones? Thank you,
