If your car (head radio unit) has wired Android Auto or/and Carplay capability, this device makes it wireless. So it basically makes the connection between your car and your android phone or your iPhone wireless. Instead of plugging in USB cable from your car to your phone every time to make connection, you plug this device in to your USB port on your car, and the connection to your phone would be wireless.

Hopefully I won't confuse you even more.

Purchased 2 on the last deal, got pretty scared after seeing some of the comments that this is a shill post and these aren't good but I've been running one in my car and one in my wife's car for CarPlay for the last 2-3 weeks and they work just as good as the Motorola MA1 worked for me which I believe is pretty universally regarded as the best Android Auto device. Also a whole lot easier to setup. No regrets so far.

Biggest drawback which is Pass for me: you cannot pair this with multiple phones. Some other similar devices have that functionality

My CarPlay freezes after an hour, I've tried all the settings but it doesn't work. Will this fix the issue? Still ordered it due to the wireless capability.

I advise you read the product page (everything is explained there) and then Google anything you don't understand.

It turns ur wired android auto or Apple carplay to be wireless. No more wires to connect.

I have bought 3 of these last year (version 3.0) and 2 of them were returned because they were flaky. Most of the time they work, but when turning the off/on a few times when running around doing errands, it will hang in the looking for connection screen perpetually.. When it works, it's great though. Perhaps going from version 3 to 5 in a year fixed the issues?

With this one, you can go into the settings (through your browser) and set the audio delay to 300ms instead of the default 1000ms. The only time I notice a delay now is when I hit forward/rewind during a podcast, and even then it's minimal. I haven't found that option on any other device I tried.
True that. Watch this video as the reviewer shows how to amend the delay (he set it for 300ms): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kq63rmNpsIw

Thanks OP! Got two but had to do separate orders to use the code both times. Decided to purchase with virtual CC numbers as I know nothing about the security this site provides.

Does anyone know if this device can make your phone screen to broadcast on to the car deck? I don't want carplay.
No, why would you think that?

let's say 4 different phones have been paired with it previously as individual. Now when all these 4 people sit in car together which one will it pick up as default for car play?
I'm not positive, but I would guess it will pair with the first one in the list (the first that was paired with it) by default. There are only two paired with mine but when my wife and I are both in my car and no one manually picks a different phone when it's starting up, it will always pair with mine.

How to manually chose the phone to pair with when multiple people sit in car together each of whose phone has been paired separately earlier? Is there on-screen menu listing all the phones paired with Carlinkit?

Yeah, when it starts up it shows a menu on your car's touchscreen with a list of paired devices and you can tap which one you want to connect. It stays up for like 5 seconds and then just connects to one if you don't choose.

Used this with a 2022 Dodge Charger Scat Pack and do not recommend. It has a noticeable lag when attempting to connect and changing songs. Also doesn't work entirely about 1 out of 10 times. Skip.

I bought this a year or two ago (not sure if this specific version, but definitely the same product from the same retailer). Upon power up, you can select which phone you want to connect to (android or iPhone, doesn't matter). One phone per power cycle.

For this price, the convenience is worth it. Wired CarPlay is a pain and this gets the job done. I would say 5% of the time, it seems unresponsive (led stays solid red). This can be annoying but I just unplug for a few minutes and try again. The version I had also had scaling issues with Android, but iPhone works great.

I saw a Costco SD for different adapter that is more expensive. Would hope that is more reliable if you are willing to pay. But this is worth $37 imo.
Wire takes less than 5 seconds to plug in...it also charges your phone! Imagine that. I see the allure of wireless but wire carplay or AA isn't that much of a hassle.
