To answer the common questions:

- Backlit chicklet keyboard
- Barrel connector charging
- Memory seems soldered in, but has 1 additional available slot

This chip is faster than the 12th gen i5, but slower than the 13th gen, while being better on power. I really wish this had USB C charging.

For a typical use daily driver, this is a heckuva deal for the price.

RAM: ASUS official page even says 1 available SDRAM slot. Maybe it's on the hidden side of the mainboard. I've come across that design a couple of times in the past.
HDMI: 1.4 is a bit disappointing, but if you're not light gaming, you won't hit this wall.
Weight: 3.7 lbs,... just a tad heavy, but not
Display: ...and 600 nits OLED?! <drool... .> on-battery duration will suffer but imho, well worth the trade-off.
Ports: 3.1 is insufferable if accustomed to 3.2 or faster. However, in my experience, substantial dependency on attached storage is not typical use.
CPU & Storage: both reasonably snappy. Combine with 16GB, you're good for 3+ years easy for typical use.
Charge Method: Imho, the barrel connector charge is just not that big of a liability given this price-for-performance. That's what we're accustomed to anyway.

All that said, I remain baffled: why so little love?

Damn oled screen and upgradable ram slot for $450 seems too good to be true, what's the catch?

Is this something that would be good for my 12 year old sons gaming needs? Minecraft, Roblox, etc.. If not this is there a good starter gaming computer to get? Can't imagine we are going to be upgrading whatever we get ourselves…if that plays a role in what to select. Thanks in advance!

How upgradeable is the extra ram slot? Another 8-16gb?

Just came to say that I recently bought a vivobook that came with 12gb (8 onboard, 4 in other slot). Everything I read, including ASUS said the max was 16gb. I recently added a 32gb card in the other slot and I'm now currently running 40gb total.

"There was an issue with your payment

I tried 4 credit cards. Then I got this:

"Sorry, you are not eligible for installments with this purchase
This purchase didn't pass the customer assessment guidelines or the amount is too high.

I got that same message, then clicked go back to Newegg, clicked checkout with Zip again and it auto logged me in and went through no problem.

I tried that after the "not eligible" message. I ended up buying this laptop at Amazon for $449.99 with their 4-year Asurion protection plan for an extra $99. It worked out cheaper for me since Newegg's 3-year Allstate plan was $190. I would prefer an Allstate warranty, but oh well.

Battery life on amd is way better now after Intel blocked undervolting.

This is an AMD Cezanne (Zen 3) refresh, with Radeon RX Vega 7 graphics (448 shader cores). CPU performance will be good for the power envelope (like Ryzen 5000 series). Graphics is a couple generations behind, basically pre-Navi (Radeon RX 5XXX).

Partly why I emphasized 'typical' use. Anyone needing a gaming rig shouldn't be looking at this. Still, AMD CPU delivers plenty good graphics for productivity app and web purposes.

Agreed, but if you can spend 50$ more for the option for potential gaming, video editing, multiple monitors, or even resale value down the road.. not hating, I just want the best deal even if I gotta go to Best buy for the open box 👍😊
