I think they are giving these out to clear out the overstock. The expiration dates have been extended as initial dates were based on then available testing and research. Now they have more testing and research done so they can safely extend dates. Initially they had to err on side of caution which makes sense to me. Just my opinion.

If you received the last batch than you obviously also received the pamphlet they sent that states the expired tests are safe and accurate to use, yeah? There's plenty of things to criticize a government about that don't involve you not reading the included paperwork.

The word "COVID" is like a bat signal for people to post their grievances. Thanks OP.

Just a friendly reminder to keep comments friendly, helpful and on the topic of ordering/receiving the test kits.

Are the previous ones provided still effective for the latest variants? Does the expiration date really matter or would the positive result just be a little lighter?

Yeah, I got mine, they were expired, it said scan this code to get the current expiration date. Garbage, dysfunctional government at work again.

most of the pharma products can be used upto 6 months to 1 year beyond the expiration dates. it all depends on the how they are packaged and stored by the consumer. If it is in hot and humid places the product does go bad , so the pharma needs to come up with lowest denominator for expiration dates.
Overall Pharma mafia want you to spend more money so they will still reduce expiration even further.

I think it goes without saying when you live paycheck to paycheck as so many people do, sometimes you aren't sure how "sick" warrants staying home.
