For anyone on the ad free plan already just log in to the website and go through the cancel flow. Then right before cancelling they will offer you the $2.99 plan.

I don't think the ads are that bad. They don't seem to be as frequent or as long as what I've seen elsewhere. I subscribed right after the rebrand to Max, and the regular price of $10 has honestly seemed like a bargain.

I don't have cable currently, and have never had any premium/add-on cable channels, so most of the content is new to me. I don't remember what I was paying for Discovery+ but this isn't much more expensive for way more content. I'm quite pleased overall and have no desire to pay even a little bit more to go add free.

I'm going to guess they won't do any similar deal on ad-free this year because all the companies are trying to push everyone to despised ad plans for profits.

I get premium Max free with my cell plan and I'm still contemplating canceling. This service is garbage at any price.

The online system will reject older gift cards. You have to contact customer service to redeem.

I can mostly deal with ads during TV shows, but during a movie is a truly horrible experience. Credit to Peacock and Paramount, they DO NOT show ads during movies regardless of what tier you're on.

Just went to cancel my current sub and switch emails and they offered me this deal to keep me from cancelling. So current subs may also be able to take advantage of this.
