Free offline GPS maps with tons of trails and waypoints. Haven't used Alltrails for years since I started using that.

The key point of an app like this is to download maps and use them offline which is not available under Gaia free membership. You need premium subscription to do that.

Gaia Maps is free and works fine as an alternative. The subscription is not needed for full app usage.

sorry bad advice, do not trust trails in maps.me, I used it for hiking years ago and it took me to a trail that looked like a shortcut but in fact did not exist, took me up and down windy hills and overgrown bushes, I had to fight thru thick bushes and trees in pitch dark to find my way back. I was fortunate not to get stranded out in the mountains overnight

Oh guess that has changed. I haven't used the app in awhile but was able to download local maps offline last time I did.

Never had any problems with well over 1,000 miles of hiking through the years in all sorts of places around the US.
