The 2TB is $79.99 and the 4TB is $159.99.

Unless the 4TB drops $15-20, I think the better value is in getting two 2TB units at this point in time.

I'd rather not have all my eggs in one basket even if I can back them up on a NAS. If you don't have a NAS, having two 2TB's allows you to create a backup drive with the second one, if that floats your boat.

Since the source is a HDD wouldn't that be the limiting factor in the transfer? You cannot write any faster than you can read the data. And I believe you mean MB (as in bytes) because the lower case b really means bits.

I have an Xbox One Series X and games that are designated as "enhanced for Series X" can only be played from the internal drive. Non-enhanced games can be played from an external drive. Most newer games are "enhanced." Xbox has a proprietary external drive where enhanced games can be played from, but it's much more expensive. I use an external drive to store both enhanced and non-enhanced games. I play non-enhanced games directly from the external drive. I save the internal drive strictly for playing enhanced games.

Please add USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) to the title. USB Implementers Forum decided to make this the most confusing naming scheme.

This might be able to be shucked based on this disassembly video. Although I think this is unlikely, there may be another revision with the nand and controller directly soldered to the USB controller board, so YMMV.

I recently bought the Sandisk from Costco 1TB [costco.com] for 59.99. Is this equivalent or better? I am using it in my car for Sentry videos.

My 2tb arrived yesterday. It's a nice portable drive but the speeds are not that impressive.
I copied my CoinOps install of 1.2GB to the drive and it took about 4 hours. The average transfer speed was around 53MBs, it topped out at 152MBs over USB C (3.2-2x2) from the Motherboard connection. The source drive was a WD Black mechanical drive.

saw few reviews mentioned something about the speed degrades significantly when copying a large number of files. So I'm debating between Crucial X8 4 TB for $159.99 or the Samsung T7 Shield 4 TB for $199

I highly recommend the samsung, though I can't compare the two options as I don't have a sandisk. It's quite quick, usually can read/write at about 700mb/s-ish sequentially and otherwise hasn't had an issue. I know I got it not long after it was first available (pretty steep, but I had money then) so however long ago that was is how long its been working for me

Question. Dad here trying to hook up his son. Anyone know if you can plug these into an XBOX Series S? Just ordered the Xbox for my son and would like to add storage for more games as the previous Xbox generation could. Thank you.

Edit: I think I found the answer on google… can use to store but needs to be transferred to internal drive to play… hmmm

Just a reminder that you should buy 2 of whatever external drive you are in the market for. You normally want a backup of a backup, unless you already have a 1tb external or you can leap frog an old smaller external drive with 1 new one, but you'd always be limited by the space of your older drive and technically overpay for the new one since the additional storage would be uncovered/not usable unless you risk it, but something to think about

I don't think that's true...you should be able to play off the external SSD too.

I do not recommend this. Much slower transfer speeds than the SanDisk Extreme. For larger file transfers, my 2.5'' external drive is faster.

yeah that seem right, but the HDD read and rights at 230MBs and this drive never reached that speed
