Not cordless = good thing! This type of an item, for most people, is not something you use every day. If so, having unused batteries sit on a shelf is not a good thing. I would rather use it when / as needed and put it away than having to spend more money on replacement battaries.

Now, if you use yours often, that is a different issue. And I suspect one would go for a more commercial product in that case.

Dead on Amazon already?

I already have 2, and I couldn't pass on such a good price to get a spare one. I've already cracked 2 gearboxes on the rocky grounds I'm working with. And yes, I walk backwards and I clean the tangled weeds every now and then. It's definitely not the machine's fault. But at this price it's cheaper than renting one of the big boys at Home Depot for a few hours.

Great little machine, I can't complain at all.
