I saw this in another thread and posted there, so I'm just copying it here:

I bought the Serif Affinity Suite for personal use a few months back (on sale at the time, but not as nice as this). I use the Adobe CS5 suite at work because we don't want to pay the Adobe subscription fees.

I've been very impressed with the Serif Affinity Suite. I've done some nice freelance work with it. For background, I'm pretty good with the Adobe Suite, and picking up the Serif Affinity Suite hasn't been too difficult. Picking up most of it has been intuitive. There are some features that would be nice to have for sure, but there have been work arounds in my case. I've used all three of their alternatives with success. So far, I've used the InDesign alternative the least of the three.

I've installed the suite on multiple computers and they have all worked great so far. I haven't worked on any huge files yet, but it seems to run smoothly.

If you are in the market for this type of software and don't need ALL the bells and whistles of the Adobe Suite, I highly recommend the Serif Affinity Suite.

I dislike the subscription-based models myself, but I understand it from the business side - I just choose not to participate in it.
It's even cheaper if you are upgrading from V1, I had Photo V1 and designer V1 and it discounted the upgrade to $74. Just have to log into your account on the site.

A lot of weak improvements compared to Photoshop. Yes it is cheaper but in 2023, some of these major features are still missing.

How often do these sales happen? Thinking about waiting until I get an ipad and try out the suite

thanks. i am upgrading from v1 photo license. I don't use 90% of adobe photoshop features and affinity suits me just fine. this one has ipad license included, too! nice.
I don't need to upgrade, really, but I feel that I should chip in for a good alternative to adobe's evil subscriptions.

Interestingly, no upgrade discount just on Affinity Photo.
Full Affinity suite upgrade price of $74 puts it at about $5 more than the regular Affinity Photo price.
Hmm ...

$74 buys you all three apps on all three platforms (Windows, Mac, iPad), and you can install on as many devices as you want.

Single app, single platform is $42.

There's a choice for everyone.

It looks like unofficial linux support finally arrived this year if you're willing to manually compile wine. I'm getting all I need out of V1 for now but may upgrade next year especially if linux setup is easier.

Not too bad, but I like photomator a little better and their sale is better as well.
