For example I have 20 drives, having them in external housings with 20 power bricks wouldn't ideal.
Instead I have a server running in basement.
Also if you shuck them and put it in proper setup you also have proper cooling.
Drives in these external enclosures often run hot.

I bought costco also and will be careful shucking the WD in case they have to go back.
Anyone know for sure if there is work to do on the pins on these WD ones?

Easiest and completely fool-proof, and put that old school molex to use.
I am pretty sure, from my past experience, it's either Ironwolf or better.

There is no guarantee what's going to be in there, but they will all be CMR drives.
I have Seagate and WD drives, and so far only the WD have failed, but those were the oldest drives.
Drives tend to follow the bathtub curve - fail early or late.
