Model: H&R Block Tax Software Deluxe with State 2023 for Windows, 1-User, Download
Deal History
Deal History includes data from multiple reputable stores, such as Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. The lowest price among stores for a given day is selected as the "Sale Price".
Sale Price does not include sale prices at Amazon unless a deal was posted by a community member.
In the past (prior to 2018), this software could be had for during the tax season (Black Friday through April) for under $10.
Over the past 5 or so years, the lowest price seems to be in the $10-15 range.
I think I'll wait until this software gets down in the $10-15 range before pulling the trigger.
Glad to see that the software still includes FIVE (5) free federal e-files and unlimited Federal preparation and printing option.
----
As always, people have to be reminded that the State filing portion of this software is NOT free (unless you live in NY State).
H&R Block charges extra (above the cost of this software) to e-file your State Tax return electronically through their servers.
You still have the option to just print your State Tax return and mail it in for the cost of a few stamps. If you are expecting a refund on overpaid taxes, your refund will just not be as quick as it would be by paying extra to file electronically. If you owe taxes, why pay even more?
Its hard to recommend these services when Freetaxusa does what the others do as fluently and has the same features as these services premium features for free.
Free and easy vs $50-$100 and easy. Not really a hard choice IMO
And usually there are offers with Amazon cash-back which is around 2-3% (keeps getting lower and lower each year), which can cover the state-filing fees.

The best price last year was $18 for the software alone. Perhaps the best deal overall was for $35 with a $20 gift card. So the software was $15. I waited until the end hoping the price would drop as it always had before. It never did and I got screwed. If I see it for around $20 I am in this year.

If you do not want it do not buy it but stop with these thread crapping posts and move on.

Does not include state, which is $14.99. Also is only free for basic. Looks like Deluxe is $7.99. Not sure what Deluxe includes, though, but some will likely need that. And yes, submission for state with HRB costs money (unless in NY), but FreeTaxUSA isn't going to be free for everyone.
Last year I paid a little over $20. This year it's a bit more expensive as the base cost has gone up $5, so $25 seems right based on that. Might be able to squeeze it down a bit more if you wait, but I might pull the trigger anyway, just to be done with it for another year.

Yep, you're correct...
I went back and checked my receipt. I paid $19.99 in Jan.
Most years in the past, I have waited until the March/April deals on this software.
In prior years, I have would just give away unused uses of my Federal e-File code to other SlickDealers. I believe last year, and going forward...I now give away a use of the code for a $5 Amazon Gift card to offset my own costs. I have to file three separate returns within my family so I will have two uses to help offset my initial cost - while at the same time providing a service to a fellow SD'er to be able to file one Federal Return for $5 - which is a nice SlickDeal!
It looks like LovelyCheeta (SD Staff) jumped your Deal Post and created their own, adding the other versions/options of this software in one grand post.

Thanks, no problem as long as every sees the deal...
Probably can save a few bucks by waiting til Jan - Feb, not worth it for me.
Some like to use the free tax software but installed version gives me the options to make many various tax forms depending on income. I like to see Tax implications, so I don't screw myself owning big $$$.
Premium is onsale too, this edition is good enough for many small businesses. You only need +Business when you want to do multiyear asset deprecation or certain corporation structures outside LLC.
And usually there are offers with Amazon cash-back which is around 2-3% (keeps getting lower and lower each year), which can cover the state-filing fees.
That's actually a net loser for many people who get 5% cashback already.

Hopefully others do the same.
