This has pan and tilt features though; allowing you auto track moving objects/people.
However the Wyze Cam v3 that you are referring to does have free Cam Plus Lite[wyze.com] support. (Basically free AI person detection). The Wyze Cam Pan v3 does not ergo it's debatable what is the better deal; I guess it depends on what your needs are. I would agree with you though that the V3 2 pack for $35 is the better bargain overall.
Incidentally, Tinycam Pro[amazon.com] supports LAN live view monitoring for most Wyze Cameras. This means you can make Wyze cameras into IP LAN cameras that don't need access to internet. (You will need internet access initially though to register/activate the cams via the Wyze app and Tinycam Pro)
Wyze Bridge[github.com] will also make these camera compatible with NVRs but my preferred method for live LAN viewing is using Tinycam on an old Firestick; works out well for me.
EDIT
I now realize that you were referring to V2 pan and not the V3 deal for $35 that has no pan or tilt ; my mistake and disregard all that crap lol. At least the Tinycam info could prove useful though...
Bought one recently as well - the panning and tracking is ridiculously cool but the actual results are not what many might think. Like if someone if walking in front of your house, the camera will begin tracking and move a little, stop, and move again (rinse and repeat). So lots of jerky, blurry footage that actually hurts the quality of footage massively.
The tracking is best thought of as a way to reposition the camera on the fly automatically for a target, and hope they don't move too fast/too much. Ideally an area that isn't too high traffic. When pointed outwards to my road the camera would constantly scan back and forth depending on sensitivity settings like a golden retriever (squirrel!) at anything that moved and hold for some time in last known position, taking the camera away momentarily from where I really need it to be watching.
YMMV, but IMO this is a niche security camera product. Amazing for price for the panning/tracking. Tons of features are hidden behind subscription paywall, be advised.
It's not a bad deal, it's just not as good as the "2 for $35 old model sale" you found last year. I have 2 of the v2 models and they are good, but the v3 offers a few more features: IP65 weather resistant, useable outdoors, 180 degree tilt.
Also, that v2 price was last year, not right now. Currently the lowest I could find for v2 is around $40-43 each (outside of shady shops).

General functionality doesn't require subscription (view using app, notifications of sound/movement, etc), but if you want it to save recordings "to the cloud" for view on the app, that requires a subscription. Thats how all the others work. If you don't need the option to view recordings online, you can still have the camera save recordings to a microSD card.
I had a similar question and couldn't find a straightforward answer. From what I understand, the lamp socket smart controls require a cam v3. I believe it's the same type of light control that the cam v3 has with the add on spotlight. The usb port in the socket *should* power this pan cam v3 but not have lighting smart controls. I'm hoping that's the case but I'll know for sure when I get the lamp sockets I ordered
Make sure you are logged into your Prime account in that browser session. Like open Amazon and make sure you are logged in, and then view this site. Might be that it doesnt see you logged into Prime.
This all went live on Saturday and I didn't think it was a good enough deal to post here. I ordered 2 cameras and they checkout said it would be delivered the next day (Sunday). As of this morning the status never changed and all the Wyze customer service would say is they were very sorry but no ETA. So just beware.. you may not get this order for quite some time. I did cancel this morning assuming similar deals will be available this week for local pickup.

I ordered 5 OG and 5 PAN on sat., and all were delivered on Sunday.
FYI, I realized you can't watch live streaming with wifi if your internet is down and you're not already logged into the cam.
Some one told me (amazon) blink is also same.
It means you can't watch your driveway cam at home if internet is down. No more RSTP support for newer cams like PAN V3.
