You'd have to add up the additional checked bag/seat reservation fee which can be about $80 each way--but this still may be significantly cheaper than a flight on other airlines. As for meals--just bring your own. We brought much nicer bento boxes ($8-$10) on board from Tokyo, and they were so much better than the economy meal on United we got. If you get the Zipair luggage upgrade, you do get a simple mea, which select beforehand.

But check the major airlines to see if their price is comparable. Zipair was a nice flight--if you know what to expect and prepare your meal. Get the lounge access for about $10 so you can relax and fill up with drink (non-alcoholic) and light snacks before your flight. The entertainment is sparse, so download your preferred entertainment to your digital device (which you'll need for using on-board entertainment).

The Zipair Lie-flat seats are more than just a small increase, and are closer to about 3x-4x the reguar seats. But that's MUCH less than the 6x-7x premium of Business class seats over economy on other airlines. You're looking at around $1000 each way (plus the $70-$100 extra for baggage, etc.) for lie flat seats. You'll also have to pay for every item you consume. You'll still save THOUSANDS of dollars over every other Business Class seat on other airlines.

It's not really a Business Class luxury experience--just expect to pay-as-you-go for everything-- but the lie-flat seats provide the comfort for those needing it to survive the flight over the Pacific, which is probably 80%-90% of the important aspect of flying Biz class. If you really want nicer meals served on nice dinnerware and as much booze as you want to drink, pay the $3000+ more for that privilege on Biz class on another airline.

Just go Zipair. Get the lie flat seats for small premium. Much more value for lot less money

The checked bag fee ruins Zipair's pricing for me unfortunately. Would love a full service airline for my needs.
Yeah if you plan on checking bags you're better off going with a full service airline. Zipair is for folks traveling light and is very barebones. If you don't pre-order a meal they won't feed you period. You'll have to settle for instant noodles lol

Instant noodles ought to be better than in-light meals…?

Terrible deal. For extra couple of inches of legroom with premium economy the price triples.
To call it terrible is an overstatement. Airline prices are on par with this. Not only that, you're flying on a premier airline with exceptional service, unlike most if not all the domestic US airlines.

Has anybody found decent deals over summer 2024? The fares I am getting from Seattle to SE Asia are around $2000, nowhere near the "from" price of $800. not TC, because I do see fares in April for $800, but the difference in so vast in outbound travel in June.

Their hot meals are decent and more nutritious than instant noodles. Everything bought through their in flight ordering system is very limited and if you snooze you lose.

You clearly have never flown Singapore Airlines and are not familiar with their premium economy product. Seats are on par / better than domestic first.

I have flown multiple times so don't worry about that part. I agree service is good but I'm talking purely in terms of price.

Here is a link to the Zipair menu (not every dish is available for every flight, and the included dish you can choose if you purchased the luggage/seat/meal package will be the cheaper dishes listed for ¥1300): https://www.zipair.net/en/service/meal

The meals you receive will not be on a plate but in something that resembles a take-out container. They won't look that good, but the one I had (spicy chicken rice) tasted OK.

Bring your own drinks or buy the drinks on board for about $2 a can/bottle.
