Awesome price on a 1030 Plus. I've said it before, but reviews don't show much difference between the 1030 Plus and the new 1040 Edge head unit. The 1040 has better custom routing and even more accurate GPS tracking, but otherwise, not a lot of difference (except for price).

Good sales on this are not that rare.

I own a 1030 Plus and it's been selling for $370 - $400 for quite some time. When have you seen it as low as $320 - at least in the last 4 months?
Nothing wrong with posting another deal on the 1030 Plus, just don't be surprised if you don't get much response anymore.

But it remains a "luxury" within the luxury that this kind of cycling is, so people who can afford a $300-320 gadget, will often splurge for the slightly more current one, or had the $4xx to spend, and did.

Exactly. Nothing wrong with posting it, as it is still a descent and dare I say high-end computer by any metric. Many people get these just for the ease of the large screen, to whom the newer 1040 has little to offer.

Also, as Garmin's newest Edge head unit computer, along with the 1040 Solar, it really hasn't been discounted all that much. It's not like you can wake up one morning and say "I think I need Garmin's best bike computer" and then just order a 1040 on Amazon for $400 something. In fact, that claim seemed so outrageous that I just pulled the CCC graph on the 1040 head unit, alone, and the lowest Amazon has EVER sold the 1040 for (and it was for a very short period of time, about one day) was $503.99.
So, I spend a lot of money on bike accessories, but $320 vs $500 - $550 isn't something to sneeze at... esp when the 1040 isn't much better than the 1030 Plus.

Never had issues with any garmin device: MUCH better accuracy and consistency under GPS only vs a smartphone, unparalleled battery life vs a smartphone when the latter also uses LTE/4G etc. And we are talking MTB & hiking alike, both close and really far from cities.
still rocking my 530 for now
