The S6 Lite has unlockable bootloader, so can root, so device wide adblock, and also current Lineageos support, so can remove all built-in Samsung bloat. Info is on XDA. SPen isn't quite as good as apple pencil but still very usable.

I stayed with iPad just for the overcast podcast app that's not available on android also because I use an iPhone and like to share clipboards. If it wasn't for overcast I would've went with a Samsung for better multitasking. I had a s9 ultra for a few days and would have a browser window streaming a movie, Reddit, and slick deals app open at the same time. I also downloaded mkv movies from usenet and watched them simultaneously in horizontal-split screen. You can't do that with apple. iPad multitasking is horrendous. I hate that you can vertical-split only some apps, can't horizontal split

To be honest this S6 Lite is over priced versus $130 Onn.

$190-220 iPad 9th A13 is lightyears ahead, with 340hp cpu vs 180hp S6 Lite. iPad is the king of value and performance

I'm not an apple guy, but you start them off with a ipad and the next thing you know they want a iphone and imac pro, etc...

I have the iplay 50 mini pro and love it. For $140.00 and it is 15% faster, double the RAM and double the hard drive space and 8.4 inches with a resolution of 1920 ×1200 FHD.

Ontop to the specs, the smaller the tablet the less likely to break the screen, just make sure you get a droop proof, kid proof case.

If you want to spoil the kid, get them the Lenovo P11 Pro Gen 2. But I got that for my kid before the iplay 50 mini pro existed.

Does the pro have widevine L1? Read that the regular does while the pro doesn't.

No it does not BUT netflix does not look bad due to having such a small screen.

But there are like a hundred websites that offer free content in full HD quality.
