Pretty sure this is the recommended polisher for the car detailing sub reddit, supposed to be the best.

It is a random orbit, dual action polisher. The general consensus is the G9 is a best bet for the weekend warrior and many prefer it to MaxShine M15. Griots has a good reputation for warranty and customer service.

My old griots polisher died and it was from 10 years ago , sent it in and they sent me a g9, customer service was great.

I use the G9 with a 5" backing pad and the 15mm Milwaukee m18, thinking about getting the G8 for smaller sections.

if your getting the G9 for your first polisher, pick up the 5 inch backing plate and then decide if you like the 5 or 6 inch size before you go and buy a bunch of pads

I love the m18 , but i mostly use it for cutting and for vertical panels since its a little heavier with the battery, i like the g9 for final polish on the hood and roofs because it has less vibration and it easy to hold with my arm fully extended,

i only do a car a month or so, im no pro but i love both, the larger stroke on the m18 is hard to beat for cutting though, so theres that, i got the m18 on the last deal i think it was $189 , well worth it at that price, very well built and great if you are already invested in Milwaukee

Seems the normal price for this kit is $200 (after checking camel camel camel)
I'd like to give some care to my 2009 coupe during slow time in December. Looking for a good starter set

Started out with a PC7424 and eventually moved up to a Flex 3401 and then a Flex rotary. I hear Rupes are good, but the 3401 was next logical step up from 7424. Mine's been chugging along for 15+ years. They have gotten hella expensive over the years though.

This is a great deal for a solid polisher. Just make sure you keep the original packaging. There's a known issue with the start button where it randomly starts failing. Had 2 replaced by griots within the year. Warranty and customer support is nice, but you have to pay for shipping everytime. In my case they had me replace a spring contact first, by sending me a couple of parts, after it did not fix it they replaced.

The old griot's da i bought 12 years ago is still going strong. I use it for maybe twice a year, even once a year in the last few years.

Any recommended videos of proper methods? I bought one of these so many years ago and have never used it (waaaay back with Advanced Auto commonly had major coupons pretty much all of the time like $50 off $125 and stuff like that).

Is it worth the upgrade from my Porter Cable 7424XP? Just a weekend warrior.

I know the G9 is much better, but the throw is very similar (8mm vs 9mm). Would I see much of an improvement?

Honestly i never found someone i loved on youtube, search reddit for "auto detailing " channels , there are some good recommendations on there, most people are always trying to sell you something, so skip that gibberish and just look and their technique , between a few different people you'll get the concept down, best bet would be to get a hood from a junkyard, wet sand it to 2000 grit and then go to town in bring it back to life, I painted my truck recently and had a little bit of orange peal and a few runs and wet sanded it and polished it after, best way to just mess around a learn. Ive been using lake country pads and griots compounds and been happy with the results.
