I contacted BB months ago asking about the difference and the person told me these are basically older stock, but they're all made with the same materials in the same place.

Not sure that person knew what they were talking about as others have mentioned likely differences.

I did end up buying the 12 inch standard though and it's nice. I will say, if you're on the heavier side (I'm ~200lbs), I'd go for the firmer 10 inch. I wish I had. This mattress does sink in after a few months.

I think from my research that's just natural settling in, but it made it less comfortable for me. The firmer one would be better for slightly heavier folks I'm betting.

Anyway, for $200 I would say this is a pretty dang good deal based on my experience with the standard.

I got my 10" firm a few days ago, but I'll preface this by saying that I'm no bed expert.

The mattress I HAD was a medium, and after 7-8 years it had become unbearable. A couple springs were poking up, and it was sinking in certain areas.

This firm is exactly what I needed (back/stomach sleeper).

It's a lot firmer than what I expected from a bed in a box. The top 1" layer of foam is soft, but the mattress has very little give overall. To me, it's a good compromise between my previous medium mattress and sleeping on a hardwood floor. I've seen it described as a 6-7/10 firmness - like I said, I'm not an expert, but I'd probably put it at a 7-8/10. I'm not sinking into it at all.

It inflates in about 10 seconds once fully unwrapped. No real off gassing or fumes to speak of, only a slight smell. It's one sided. I've seen people complain about the edges on similar models, but the edge support on the firm feel about as good as my prior spring mattress. It inflated to the full 10", if not slightly more.

I'm just now waking up on day 4 and I'm very comfortable lying here.

Obviously I can't speak for how well it will hold up, but I'm happy with my purchase for now.

The biggest difference seems to be the layers in the mattress. Going by the images on walmart.com and the BB website:
Standard 12":
https://i5.walmartimages.com/asr/...nBg=FFFFFF

Signature 12":
https://res.cloudinary.com/helixs...a=BAAAROBs

So the signature has 5 layers vs 3 on the standard. the 14" standard seems to have 4 layers (2" foam base layer).

So 10" or 12" mattress for a 40+lb toddler? I've read toddlers require a medium to firm mattress to support development of their skeleton. It sounds like the 12" is very soft, but at 40lbs maybe that's the best option?

I ordered a queen sized firm mattress. I don't know about others thoughts but the bed doesn't feel very supportive; I imagine the plush versions being extremely soft. It feels like a 220$ mattress, just fyi. I'm going to keep it for the guest room because it was cheap but if it weren't a hassle to return I'd have paid a little more for something better quality.

Agree with this. My firm mattress was soft as well. Return was easy.

Hi, did you get the 10 inch firm version? Does it allow returns after opening and trying? Thanks!

Adding to an old thread.
I bought 12" full size medium about a week ago.

I'm not sure if the made the bed to order but it had the build tag INSIDE the plastic vacuum packaging. So they for sure didn't compress the bed until right before shipping.
It shipped FedEx from the Brooklyn Bedding plant in Arizona .

When I opened the bed, it went right to full height and shape in about a minute. I didn't have to wait 2 days hoping the foam would keep rising and off gassing, like those all other China foam beds.

I weigh 220 lbs and got the 12" medium hybrid based off of many youtube reviews and recommendations.

I'm in California, so the haul-away was included in the price, YMMV.

Basically an Angie's list contractor came by later and hauled it away.

Thanks again, that's what I did. Fast shipping and quick swap out. Surprised me how tight it was packed, sucked in air as soon as unsealed. No noticeable smell and I'm pretty sensitive. Deal is still alive and I uprated to 12 and should get years of good sleep with a bit more $ It was a twin one guy can do it but two might be better. I'd probably argue my method is best haha

Is the 12" too soft?

In my opinion, no. But choosiing a bed is such Goldlocks YMMV thing. A 125 lb back sleeper is going to have a different preference than say a 250 lb side sleeper.

The first couple nights I was a little worried the bed was too firm. But after a couple days, now that it's broken in and/or I'm used to it, it's just right.

Depending on your body type and your sleep postion you may want / need a different bed than me. Brooklyn Bedding has mattress quiz on their site to help you select one. https://custom.brooklynbedding.com/6463eb5905ef5

excellent points, YMMV on lifestyle. I'm large and a side sleeper and 12" seemed too firm, comforted to hear it will break in. I was thinking of putting my 4" foam topper on it but will see how it goes first.

Like others mentioned, they seem to ship on demand, my packing date was OCT 2nd '24. And impressed by the quality and packaging.

I had a hollywood metal frame and a bad back so I just swapped mattress. I left the box spring under it. A bit high but better than too low for us old guys.

Is it a solid plank box spring? Brooklyn Bedding recommends not putting their mattress on old flex bases. From the Warranty info:

Brooklyn Bedding mattresses have been designed to be used on foundations with solid support with minimal to no flex. This includes slatted wood or metal foundations with slats no more than 4" apart, wood or metal box foundations, and solid wood or metal platforms, as well as adjustable bases. Substitution or use of improper foundations, such as old box springs (5+ years or more) without solid support, or slatted wood or metal foundations with slats more than 4" apart, will void your mattress warranty, and all other warranties expressed or implied.

Thanks for that, I was wondering what sort of support it needs. I'll have to figure out some slats for my metal frame. It's a pretty stiff but OLD box spring base so I'll look into it. nod
