If you are already a Tracfone BYOD customer, can you "upgrade" to this phone by using the included Straight Talk SIM and the Tracfone website to activate?

Obviously, no additional airtime/minutes/text/data will be added to your Tracfone account.
No it will fail, you have to chat or call. I just did this on Saturday with 2 phones

Did you order from Walmart or Straighttalk.com?
At this point I am still waiting for my order to ship from Straighttalk.com.
Maybe it will be cancelled.

When did you order your phones?
When did you get them (on or before Saturday?)?

What did the Tracfone CS people say to you about the error you got?
Did they find it suspicious that you ordered a Straight Talk phone and are now activating it at Tracfone?
They didn't have a problem re-branding your phones from ST to TF?

Despite what Mitchflorida has said, the included ST SIM is apparently not exactly the same as a TF SIM, hence the error you got.

Incorrect - I have done it several times without contacting TF as have many others.
Just activate as a locked TF (do not select bringing my own device) & choose keep current number.
ST sim is same as TF sim, even shows small TF right on it. Did not need to rebrand since it activated as a TF automatically.

Hopefully your correct, but it wasn't working this weekend. But the site was pretty screwy so might have been an issue with they system

Nothing new, their system is often glitchy - been weird today too. I unlocked one ST phone last month (on TF) and have done several in past year, works fine.

Metro has much better deal for A54 than Verizon sucking prepaid brands

So if you already have a TracFone account, you don't need to buy another $15 plan from TracFone. You can activate the straight talk phone on that existing service, and it will unlock after 60 days, correct?

Yes, I do it all the time (I have a collection of old cheapie TF in a drawer).

Activate as a locked TF, choose keep current number & balance/number moves to new phone. Uses current service to qualify for unlocking.

would those annual TF plan which usually sold as a package with phone (which the service is still active). would that TF account be okay to used with a ST locked phone as an upgrade? instead of using the monthly $15 plan?

I can't activate the phone from TF website, while trying to activate the phone through e-sim I get the congratulatory pop-up that the phone can be activated but then I get the error for IMEI2. I wonder if I have to get an actual physical sim for it to go through.

EDIT: CHAT customer service saved the day.

For those who cannot activate using Tracfone website, try to download the Tracphone app on your A54 and register the device in the app.

This is a good phone and good deal for most.

If you are the rare bird looking for a phone to make into an Android gaming phone + run all the emulators this might not fully cut it
The CPU/GPU is roughly in-between the older Snapdragon 845 & a 855.
To fully game well and emulate everything you want 865 and up performance.
I'm keeping my gaming off my regular phone and keeping the gaming phone in a Kishi so it is essentially powerful retro console and decent android gamer. And also some security risk exists with downloading emulation stuff.

it really bothers me that I feel like I need a college degree in phones and asterisk read below jargon to understand this. CAn I purchase this just to connect to wifi at home and use like a tablet? I also just need this to take pictures for work for me. I have to take a lot of pictures at work and am tired of using my dedicated phone for such (No my work will no provide me with a phone, this is just something i do because it legitimately helps me work faster and i work off bonuses so they will not provide)
