I have this generator. Runs fine, but the output is so dirty the refrigerator refuses to run off it, and both UPSes (different brands) refuse to charge off it

Also over a gallon per hour. 2 day outage would need like 36 gallons of fuel....

Weird. I have the 10k Watt version and it runs all 3 of my refrigerators along with my heat pump. I figured my heat pump would be squirrelly with the gen but it worked fine.

I have this 12 kW model and it runs my two fridges as well. I guess YMMV?

My dad has this one as well and runs his whole house. No complaints so far. It does like it's fuel consumption but for the money and power it's pretty hard to pass up. We use a couple of the 10k Watt gens to run multiple grain bin fans too. No prob

You should get it warrantied. Obviously there is something wrong with it...

there must be an issue then, i have a duromax and it runs both my refrigerators, my heat pump, and all my TV's... even my audio receiver and speakers run without any issue at all whatsoever.

and it's not a fancy inverter model, it's this regular old duromax just like this

Fuel consumption fix. Sure it will drop the output a bit but many won't actually be topping out the output. Get a natural gas conversion kit and run off NG. Even if you lose power you will likely still have gas. Natural Gas Conversion Kit fits Duromax XP13000HX Generator https://a.co/d/fX3t4fL

I like Duromax and its generators, but consider a closed frame inverter if living in an HOA community.

I have the 10k watt version of this generator. It has worked well for me but it hasn't been used much. I recommend buying a magnetic drain plug and running it with a light load for an hour or so with conventional oil. Change the oil and run it for another couple hours with conventional oil again. Change the oil again this time switch to synthetic oil. Also add an hour meter. You will find a lot of metal glitter in the first oil change. Maybe some in the second. Remember these don't have an oil filter so changing the oil after the break in is important. Yes these are loud and not very efficient but they can power almost everyone's house during a power outage. I do think it is too inefficient for nighttime use. I have a small generator to run the heating system and a few other minor things overnight. This can power a hot water heater, central air, multiple refrigerators, etc. Not all at once of course but you can choose what to run to get through the power outage.

edit: when you get this set the RPM so it is outputting 61.5 hertz without a load. that way when there is a load it should stay between 59 and 61 hz most of the time. that is close enough for most electronics to work properly. A killawatt meter comes in handy for this.
