I have 2 of these. One has been working great, the other shows a fault condition but seems to work, I called APC and they said the model has been discontinued for several years. So heads up, you may get a several year old battery with limited life if it has been sitting there for years.

Edit - my version was BN650M1 and maybe this is a different version, but it looks identical. Hmph! The support person told me the version was discontinued and therefore could not be replaced under warranty. She didnt say there was a near identical version BVM650M1. On APC website, it is a current model. According to the specs, the only thing different is that the BVM650M1 has no battery door and requires a special tool to open the case. It is not meant to be replaceable.

"APC's online description of the BVN650M1 says it is compatible with a replacement battery. Only after purchase do you find, hidden in the manual, that it is not user replaceable. This is, at best, misleading and is also very disappointing. I purchased an APC unit expecting at least the stated specs to be accurate. Obviously, I was wrong."

I keep one of these on my modem and router. Don't know how good they would be for an entire pc setup. Pretty small.

FYI last time I bought a UPS from Office Max the mfg date was approx 5 years prior. Battery was dead and couldn't be charged.

Good for brownouts and short blackouts- maybe 10-20 minutes depending the pcs power consumption. Gives you time to hit save and shutdown gracefully

Thanks OP. Been waiting for one of these to power the router and modem during power outages until I get the generator plugged in.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll check the battery age when I get it and return it it's too old.

Updated model has NO REPLACEMENT BATTERY DOOR!

I've been buying the earlier version of this unit for it's slender profile and dedicated usb charging port. It's a good invest and I have them on 20+ computers. This updated model has no battery door and requires special tool to replace battery."

I've got one of these to support my work laptop and 1 monitor in case of brownouts or outages to give me time to put it in sleep mode. It's worked fine for this very light duty for a couple years. Don't know how well it would stand up to any heavy usage though.

I stopped buying all these. At one point had like 8 of them around the house and replaced most of my power strips with them. One by one each year in one or two of them the batteries would die and then i would lose most of the outlets. Im now down to maybe 2 left and meanwhile the regular surge protectors from belkin and apc that i had have been running strong for the past 15-20 years while these only last a year or two before the batteries go out.

Unless you have a ton of frequent power outages i would suggest saving your money and just go with the traditional surge protectors. Some things are just better going more basic for the reliability and this is one of those products imo. In all the times i owned these i maybe had one time where it was slightly useful having the backup battery but otherwise it's really not worth the price for replacement anymore

And the response from APCProductSupport:
Thank you for taking the time to review our UPS. I apologize that the newer model BVN650M1 doesn't have an user replaceable battery in it. We went this route instead because it is usually more cost effect to replace the entire unit than just the internal battery in the UPS. With replacing the entire unit you would get a brand new 3 year manufactures warranty and if you replace just the internal battery the battery itself would only come with a 1 year warranty. If you are interested in a model that has an user replaceable battery we have the BN900M and BN650M1 which both have an user replaceable battery.
