Is this ok for a generator battery
Yup. For the price of a UL listed maintainer its a steal. I might be biased, i dont feel comfortable having china's finest hooked up to a battery all year around. Now having china's finest 10-15 amp charger while monitoring it for a few hours is another story.

I just had good luck with the NOCO genius10 doing that. It has a repair mode that brought back a battery in an old mower I had sitting for a few years. It's also on sale now for like 80 on Amazon.
Similar experience but AFAIK it is important to open the battery cell caps for the desulfation mode and is not feasible on all batteries. The battery died anyway after 2-3 weeks though so I wouldn't rely on this restoration tech.

you can get a 5 or 6A charger for the same price or less
Ive been hunting for one since autozone pulled the $30 one a few weeks ago. What have you found that has an ETL or UL sticker? Sour about them OSHA issues.

No quick connector is a deal-breaker for me, though adding one would be a simple matter.

This is a little cheaper, twice the output rating, has both quick connect and clamps, and a little better customer reviews. Less modes though, because it doesn't advertise desulfate, or force charge mode. I've got one I keep LiFePO4 batteries in the motorcycle and car topped up.

I have two of these and both have a quick connector. Pic on Noco site shows one as well.

Is it a quick connect or noco's x-connect?

I was hoping to salvage the battery, not necessarily for emergency use in the jumper pack. I'm going to remain positive and hope it works.

I see what I did there 🤣
I repaired my truck battery with the 5amp version. I took my battery to auto one to test and they said it needed to be replaced. It was pretty dead. However the Noco repaired and fully charged it. It took 2 days though. I have since driven the truck to Yosemite pulling a trailer and then to socal. Fully satisfied

Good price on a good maintenance charger.
Your not going to charge a dead battery with this but that car or generator that sits a long time will fire fight up.
I'm just curious why you wouldn't charge a dead battery with this? It's slow but works perfectly and there's nothing limiting it from charging anything. It took me days, sometimes weeks but I had charged 200-300 amp Lithium batteries just fine. I also have other faster variations that work the same, just not as long.

Got one of these brought back a battery that was 1.7v, two times.

Takes a long time, 3 days

I've used one of these on my Jeep with a dead battery several times. Will charge a dead battery up so the car will turn over and you can drive to AutoZone to buy a new battery.

It looks like there is a quick connect? At least the one I have does. And it looks like you can unbolt the clamps to get an eyelet you can attach to the bolt on the battery terminals.

Quick connect is different than the clamps. You'd snake it out the radiator or on the side of a motorcycle or other toy to keep the battery maintained when it's sitting. Then it's 1 second to disconnect when you want to go.

which is better the noco genius1 (which has 1 amp) or the noco genius 2d (which has 2 amp)? Anyone know the details on which might be better?

No look at the picture more closely - there's a quick disconnect plug in the middle. You remove the clamps to permanently attach it to the terminal on the battery. I need to rephrase my previous post - the "clamps" should have been terminals.
