What are the cons of a chromebook vs a windows computer? I know my son mostly plays roblox, geometry dash, steam, etc. Will this work for all that? What won't work on a chromebook that would work on a windows computer? Thanks!

You cannot "install" Microsoft Office. But you can use the free or paid web version of MS Office.

No, you need to buy a Windows laptop for the best gaming support. Chromebooks are basically for people that only use a web browser. That's an oversimplification but it's true more or less.

Something like this would be miles better for gaming.

I decided to get this 16-in 2 in 1 Asus Chromebook instead. Sale $400 new at bb. I got an excellent condition used for $50 more than this deal. Lower resolution at 1900 x 1200 and probably just 60 HZ but I and I like having touch and it seems to get bright enough

This laptop can fully support Windows 11 if you are comfortable with opening up laptops and flashing firmware: https://coolstar.org/chromebook/w...stall.html

You would have to pay for the audio and Thunderbolt drivers.

If you mean by installing Linux instead of chromeos, you usually need to hack it with some new bios or turn a screw. But even doing that doesn't mean the linux will fully supported the hardware. You are better off with a "window" pc for the conversion.

ChromeOs allows running a linux container call crostini. You might find it a bit limited if you are looking for the full linux experience.

$10 for audio and $20 for thunderbolt. I'd ask on their Discord to be sure: https://discord.com/invite/chrultrabook

Mine arrived today, and while it is great, I noticed the lower part of the shell has a nice U shape. The keyboard is noticeably bent. Less towards the screen and most right under the track pad. Is this normal?

Arrived today. First impressions
1) looks brand new
2) charger is definitely not oem, has Chinese writing in it and doesn't seem to be a 65w brick.
3) screen looks incredible
4) turned up brightness to full and it definitely looked brighter than any Chromebook I've ever used (350+ nits?)
5) wifi won't turn on

I tried turning it off and on to no avail. Then I hooked up to my lan cable to get online, updated from 109 to 119 and still didn't have wifi. Powerwashed it and still no wifi. I guess my reasonable expectation that Acer ship me an actually checked over certified pre-owned device wasn't met. Unfortunately I'll have to wait until Monday before calling Acer support, but hopefully it won't be too big a hassle to get this exchanged.

Do you think the previous owner took out the wifi card?

Having Chinese characters are normal for acer oem chargers. Just return and rebuy at the same time, no need to wait for support and exchange. This is way faster.

Ordered when $300. Beautiful machine in every way except:

* Quiet, high-pitched whine from back left corner like an AC charger failing.

* High-pitched fans.

Couldn't handle the sounds. Returned it. Quite a bummer because it's a beautiful screen, centered keyboard without numpad, and fast.

I totally agree and had the exact same issues! I returned it and got the Acer Spin 714. I'm much happier and the smaller 14" screen is more portable: https://slickdeals.net/f/17133922-acer-spin-714-14-touchscreen-chromebook-cert-refurb-intel-i5-1235u-1-30ghz-8gb-256gb-294-39
