paid 165 in 2009. Still going strong but we replaced the inner pot once. Internal battery died so it won't keep time anymore but doesn't affect the cooking at all.

I want to know from any of you who have this: how good does it cook Basmati rice, particularly as compared to a pressure cooker. Not worried about keeping it long as it will get consumed quickly. Do I have to was h the rice first?

In Japan, this wouldn't even be considered high end, that would be a close to grand machine, the ones that have programs for different brand of rice you use. For me, the reason to spend over 200 on something like this is because we use it every day and quality of the leftover rice in warm mode is very important. Fuzzy/micom/etc, I have no comment, since I don't know what they mean.

I don't use these to cook basmati rice, I just use pots. Much easier and quicker

Nah, I cook all types of rice in a simple instant pot pressure cooker in 5-6 minutes.. equal parts rice/water, set it to 5 minutes.. Done. Try it sometime, your elevation may require more fluid.

+1 same experience w zojirushi neuro fuzzy model here. Only thing i miss is the takuk plate on the top that allows steaming veggies at the top in tiger micom cooker. I was torn which one to get and ended up w zojirushi neuro fuzzy. Now i just put/ mix veggies in rice itself since there is no top container to steam veggies separately. It cooks all kinds of rice well and has options to cook both- brown rice and white mixed w brown(c/d semi brown) .

My induction one broke after a few years and it cost $150 to repair at a service center. It also wasn't easy to get to, I live in New York City.

After that repair, I had the same happen with the internal battery, which is not user replaceable as far as I know. I don't keep mine plugged in when not in use, so I need to set the time everytime I plug it in if I want to use the timer.

This is the way. Bought mine in 2013 , I'm Asian, I make rice 3-4 times a week. It's perfect. Absolutely perfect

Can confirm. I bought this model 18 years ago. Works as well as ever.

Make a fresh batch instead of leaving it around.

$15-$20 rice cooker can also make good rice if you follow instructions. You finish by simply mix the rice after cooking to provide fluff and to even out rice cooked on the bottom vs. the top. The rice cookers at Chinatown restaurant for their rice boxes are not using fuzzy logic fancy rice cookers because they know what they are doing.

This is similar to coffee making. You can buy an expensive machine that makes great coffee but you can also make great cup of coffee with a fresh press or a pour over for under $20 if you get the ratios correct.

Added benefit of traditional $20 cooker is cooks faster for 2-3 cups; 15-20 minutes vs. >40 min for the expensive ones. I tried and timed all the ones on Costco. The $20 finish cooking faster than all of them and takes up less space.

Use this daily for the past 5 years. Our second Zojirushi, the other one just turned 20 and still works great. We only went to this due to needing a bigger size.
