Not worth the money in my opinion. 7840HS is no doubt powerful, but because it can run at higher power, not for any architecture or core advantages. Now inside a big gaming laptop, that becomes a major factor because those can run the CPU at way higher TDP, near to 80W, for longer durtaion and on those scenarios, 7840HS can be significantly faster than a 7840U.

But in these slim and light small 14" laptops, with limited cooling, hardly the CPU can run at those kind of higher power and most cases they are maxed out to 35W-45W and the performance gap noarrows down due to that.

I don't see HP Amex off on Amex website. It has dell and other offers
If you have several cards, check them all. Some of mine had the $150 off $999 offer and some had 10% off up to $500 max offer. If it doesn't show, you are probably not targeted sorry :/

Man this thing is sweet. It has RDNA graphics. Passmark score is 25,000

I just recently got an elitebook 845 G8 with a ryzen 5 5650u pro and I thought that was impressive but this takes the cake. But I also paid 250$ for that laptop though. And it's Passmark score is 15,000

Can't wait for this one to show up on the used marked in a couple years 🤭

I just learned that amd is basically no longer supporting Vega graphics drivers anymore, just basic drivers moving forward. They are focusing on RDNA. The problem is lots of their APU desktop and laptop current gen stuff is based on Vega still. Very few of their laptops have RDNA yet

Integrated AMD graphics for $1000? Who is this catering to? If you want no video card, the offerings in the $450-$800 range are where you should be hanging out.
This is not your normal integrated graphics. Its a Radeon 780m, Passmark score of over 7000, it's actually a halfway decent GPU, and I believe this can share system memory so it won't run out of memory.

There's some situations where a laptop like this would make a decent mobile video editing workstation that could get a few things done and not run out video memory because it could easily have upto 12GB of extra video ram compared to other budget gaming laptops with 4-6 only

Oh woah, thanks for the info -- I always see the "Integrated blah blah blah" and eye roll when the price is kissing $1000. But, you're right; This new integrated is not based on Vega anymore, and is comparable to a 1650 ti or something. Very cool.

Use a browser plugin of that website. Go the product page from Amex deals, enable the CB from the browser plugin and you'll get both.
My browser plug in popped up success for the 10% tracker, I got an email for the Amex offer...and I also got an email apparently from a Microsoft portal...hopefully that one didn't override the 10% one. I'll find out!

Professionals who need Linux in a laptop. Dealing with dedicated graphics, especially Nvidia, is a massive PIA.

This laptop looks awesome on paper, but the lack of reviews makes me cautious when I'm looking at spending $1K.
The Elitebooks line is great. They are hardware standardized meaning that all components on every single device is identical vs consumer and even the ProBook lines are cheapest components at the time. While I wouldn't buy any other HP product line, the Elitebooks are a different class.

I have a g5 version of this (2700u, 32GB) and it's been rock solid for over 5+ years minus a battery replacement. The NBD on-site 3 year is also only a $60 add-on for this which is worth it.

Find me another 14 incher with high res or 16 incher with 64GB for sub $900 (after CB, CC rewards and Amex 150 offer) with portability and decent build quality, not cheap plastics...you can't.

Before "how to get sub $900" is asked I ordered the 16 incher for $1152.87 aftter 15% discount, $3 rewards welcome bonus and NY tax. I will receive $115.26 in CB, $11.53 in CC rewards and $150 SC through Amex. Net price $875.82. If you have the Amex offer, all this is reproducible. I will also get 1152 in HP rewards, which I believer are worth ~$33 towards a purchase.
The p14 was 939$ last month. It was 32g ram though. I think it has better specs than this right?

Amazing, thank you. Applied code, activated amex deal for another $150 cashback, redeemed 100 hp points for $3 off, and will be getting $217 CME credits for my purchase!
