This or the A750 for $180? I'm looking for a good price to performance gpu for 1440p gaming and $250 is my absolute maximum budget, but spending less would be preferable.

Good call. I'm running an a750 with a 5800x and it's wonderful for those worried they're not on >10th Gen Intel. Big thing is resizable bar or Smart Access Memory

These cards can have a large idle power draw. It can be mitigated by some bios settings but not everyone has access and depending on your screen config and count it may not work.
