It's going to depend on how your dishwasher is made on how it deals with the pods, liquids, gels, and powders. Also depends on how hard your water is. Very hard water is going to have dissolve problems and residue/water spot issues Very soft water wont have enough magnesium to activate most of the enzymes. Thats why different brands and their recipe for their products are going to be different for everyone. Pick the one that works best with your setup. It's the same story with laundry detergent, soap/shampoo, etc.

maybe youre right... my dishwasher recommended using the pod, so im just following instruction.
because the brand pays for the advertisement. pods aren't even remotely necessary and are just more expensive.

This guy does not agree, packs are worst. He seems like he knows what he's talking about.
I watched this same video a few weeks ago along with his follow up. It literally changed everything I used to do about dishwashers. I, too, used to use the packs/pods and was recommended by the pods manufacturer to just "put it in the bottom of the tub" at the start when it didn't release correctly a few times. But my dishes never came out clean without prescrubbing them before because I was inadvertently defeating the purpose of the 2 separate wash cycles by not putting detergent in the main cup. Now by putting powder in both cups, I feel totally confident not prescrubbing my dishes before they go in the machine.

TL|DR for those who don't want to watch the video: Prewash cycle is hugely important, use powder and hot water for the first cycle. Packs are nothing more than pressed powder in a fancy, expensive packaging. Liquid cannot contain both bleach & enzymes because the liquid formulation results in the bleach component deactivating the enzymes so most liquids or gels just use one or the other. At the very least, put the pack in the main cup and just make sure nothing blocks the door from releasing open.

Finish Detergent comparison:

Costco has Quantums for 18 cents each. https://www.costco.com/finish-pow...36250.html

This deal is for Ultimates for 22 cents each. Ultimates include hard water treatment and work better in older dish washers. https://www.finishdishwashing.com/products/

What is this "infinity shine" you speak of? Do my dishes shine forever after using these?
Even longer than that!
That would just be the mere "infinity shine".
This is the ULTIMATE infinity shine! They shine forever, plus some! Big Grin

Just used these today on two batches of dishes (we were backed up from Thanksgiving) and there was still food stuck on the dishes. We used Cascade before and didn't have this problem. Will be returning.

Maybe get a new dishwasher? My bosch works PERFECTLY with these pods... in over 5 years of daily use, I've only had dirty dishes a few times and they were due to overpacked and unevenly placed dishes (my fault) not the pods.

We have harder city water, but I have had one dispenser plastic sliding release thing be completely destroyed by liquid detergent.

Some of the liquid calcifies around the cheap plastic mechanisms that every manufacture has gone cheap on. To replace these dispensers you literally have to take apart the door on most dishwashers or you do what I did an scrubbed it for like an hour with a toothbrush just to get it working 50 percent of the time.

Never again. I will be packs for life. Never had a pack ruin cheap BS on dishwashers.
