The Sceptre monitor is not a gaming monitor at all. I would skip on that. The Acer monitor from Newegg is 165hz. I hate how they make different models with the same name. And if ur not familiar, Newegg is not well liked among many people. Costco is way more reliable. And I also think this Costco monitor is better.

Did I make a mistake? My daughter wants a gaming monitor but the one she linked to buy has inferior specs. Never mind what she wants ... I am here to get a good deal. Is this one?

Do you have a link to the one she bought? We can help you compare the two if we know what the monitor is.

She didn't buy it - I am tasked with buying her a gaming monitor as one of her presents for Christmas. She suggested this one -

Sceptre 24-inch Professional Thin 1080p LED Monitor 99% sRGB 2x HDMI VGA Build-in Speakers, Machine Black (E248W-19203R Series)

On sale for $79 at Amazon

Also up for consideration is this one -

Acer Nitro VG272U W2 27inch 2560x1440 IPS 240Hz Refresh rate 0.5ms response time AMD FreeSync Premium HDR400 Gaming Monitor, HDMIx2, DisplayPort, Speaker Bullet:

Go with this one, the MSI. Only thing that might take some getting used to is the power button around the backside.

im down to these two as well. interested to see what some of the more knowledgeable people here have to say. Other than this one being cheaper...just off skimming the two spec sheets:
  • MSI has better refresh 170 vs. 144
  • looks like MSI has a little better brightness 400 vs 350.
  • if using on Xbox series X looks like the LG can run 1440p @ 120hz and the MSI can only run 1080p @ 120hz

Considering two of these to run dual monitors or one big 40" ultrawide, the MSI MAG401QR. Which would be better for all around use?
