Should we trust Amazon to send genuine filters?

You can buy 3 for 30 off brand. works just fine
I never plan to use an off-brand of fridge water filters. We had a tenant use an "off-brand" filter once and while they were able to make it fit, it cracked part of the housing. The kicker was that it was not until it needed to be replaced the next time that it was discovered. When the water shutoff valve is behind the fridge and water is pouring out of the inside of the fridge, it's not a fun experience. Yes, I'm sure the majority of off-brands are fine for most refrigerators, but the way the connectors are cut on some of these, they don't quite fit right and it's easy to crack the plastic on the housing side. Not worth the risk to me at a rental property or our own home.

Not necessary. I no longer buy from Amazon after what was supposed to be genuine OEM clogged up the filtering system and I had to replace the whole thing. I only buy from Samsung now. It's not worth saving a few bucks for something that water that you drink goes through.

Sort of off topic, but I've used my google-fu and SO many people have trouble with the Samsung Ice Maker.

Mine quit yet again a few days ago. I've replaced the filter, hit the blue reset in the ice bin, flipped the breaker off for half an hour, and used a hair dryer to make sure nothing is frozen... Anyone have a solution?

Sometimes it just quits making ice for a week or two, then all of a sudden starts working again. Worst ice maker ever and I hate it. Anyone successfully fixed this?

Tell me more. What RO system did you go with and how would you connect the Fridge to the sink? My fridge is on opposite side of the sink
At least in my house the water line was pre-ran by the builder from the fridge to the water supply under the sink.

I went with this one from Envirotec since we have some of the hardest water in the the US. It's a 6-stage system.: https://www.spencerstv.com/produc...00-1297217

Doesn't matter. Amazon's comingling of inventory from all sellers means there a chance you can get a counterfeit product, even if buying from legitimate sellers.

If you have a samsung fridge, it probably won't last long enough to go through all the filters.

A lot of resellers on eBay use the genuine packaging but replace the filters inside with replicas. They look VERY similar to the OEM genuine units. The best bet is to look for the authentication tag/strip (attached to filter body) which show green stripes when placed near magnets. The replica filter did not last long before we noticed a foul taste in the water and it definitely took more effort to screw in and remove from the fridge. If that stuff doesn't matter to you, then awesome. FYI, we placed an order for the 4 pack directly from Samsung for $80. Even though the website said it was "in stock", it has been delayed for 60 days and they refuse to just ship 4 single filters out.

Yup. I bought from this store and samsung confirmed I received fakes. Don't ever buy razorblades or batteries from Amazon as well. The seller doesn't matter, it's all mixed together

I mean sorry dude, but there isn't a SINGLE fridge out there made by anyone that doesn't have a zillion hateful, regretful reviews. Believe me, if you're a buyer you will be throwing your hands up in confusion.

Not in my experience.

I tried 2 off-brand filters. Neither one filtered effectively.

I like to save a buck as much as the next guy, but I have learned to bite the bullet and buy genuine samsung filters.

Pro tip: install an RO system under your kitchen sink and hook up your fridge line to it. Never have to buy a filter again and the RO system pays for itself
I have a RO system connected to the fridge line— would it work without the filter? I don't want to risk causing a leaking mess…

I have a GE profile fridge and I put a bypass where the filter goes. Some fridges needs a bypass like mine and others work fine without the filter in place and bypass without it like my previous LG model.

The one I got similar to: https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Re...B09HNVWGJ9
