Had a high-end Chamberlain, ran into problems after about a year. Ripped it out, installed a flagship Genie. Much happier now.

Also note that Chamberlain "smart" only works with their app, no assistants (Alexa/Siri/Google).
Anyone promoting Chamberlain in this thread is either a shill or clueless. Company was sold to total scum Blackstone. Avoid avoid avoid. Their model is to do everything in their power to get you into a subscription, watching ads, and giving them data to sell.
Bought this from last years sale. Already having problems with it. Warranty is covering the parts, but the labor is more than a whole new unit. I wouldn't buy again

Buy the Chamberlain over the Genie. Even though it's only 1/2hp, that's more than enough for today's steel garage doors. Better in every way.

It's in-store only, thats why it won't let you purchase online or see stock.

Do you happen to know if the battery going bad causes the unit to stop working? I had one maybe 15 years ago which worked that way. I get that they need to make sure the user knows it's bad, but that seems so dumb it's almost intentional (to generate revenue.). I don't think I ever used the battery open function, and the door only ever failed due to a dead battery!

I have 2 garage doors and don't want to set myself up for $100 of batteries every 5 years. I can still manually open the door if needed and expect to be able to do so for a couple more decades!

I want to follow your advice and agree. But I'm from Ohio and the Genie is made in Ohio and can't find where chamberlain is made. I'm being stubborn, I know Smilie

Fwiw I've had a genie for two years with no problems. I imagine most of the cheaper models will be very similar between the two brands.

If you buy this, note that they do NOT come with a keypad for outside entry. That will need to be purchased separately.

Nearly all professionals dealing with garage doors will tell you Chamberlain all the way as there is no comparison. Most won't even service or install a Genie unit due to the poor quality. I had a Chamberlain unit put in last year and have no regrets. Home Depot will run specials on the install for $97 if that is a need for you. If the battery backup on the Chamberlain is a concern, spend a little more to get one without.
Hi. What concern about battery backup?

The chamberlain runs fine without a battery in it.
