Amazing, a setup costing 10x as much is better. I never would've guessed. Next you'll tell me a 77" LG G3 OLED is better than a 50" Insignia. Much wow.

Doesn't get much better than this for a relatively cheap, but quality pair of headphones.

I got a pair of these a couple years back. Very good headphones for the price. By design, they do not isolate outside noise, so make sure you are aware that these are for listening in quiet environments.

Ran the HD 598 for a long time (and still do for like game consoles) and wasn't sure these were going to be worth it but finally pulled the trigger earlier this year. It was really a big difference across the board so highly recommended. The one thing is that while you don't need a dedicated amp I would still get a decent budget amp/DAC, at least for PC use. Very clear difference between the onboard headphone jack and the basic amp.

For some reason I'm not getting the $10 discount applied. I just signed up and have never bought anything from that site before.

Edit: Finally got it to apply. I logged out, went back to the welcome email and clicked the "Drop Studio" link at the bottom of the email where it says "*TERMS & CONDITIONS: $10 coupon valid for 7 days following email signup. Valid only on orders over $50 from Drop Studio." Once I did that, there was a banner at the top saying I had $10 in credit and then clicked there.

I've bought from drop.com before so I used a new email address to get the $10 coupon. I've been wanting a pair of these since I sold my old HD650 many years ago. At $159, these are a steal.

Short answer is no because they don't have the same connection. I'm not aware of any adapter for it either. I use a separate mic with the 6XX, and I use the vmoda boom mic with my vmoda headphones on the go.

Can someone advise if these are an upgrade/downgrade to the Sennheiser HD 560S I use for gaming and casual music (with Qudelix 5K)

I would not buy if I were you simply because they will sound similar enough that you're likely to be disappointed. I can barely tell the difference between my 20+ year old sen 580s and the 6XX headphones. These are a great buy however for someone without good headphones currently.

Obviously nowhere near the league of a properly driven LCD-X at $1000+

The HD580 and HD650 are very similar headphones (the same basic design and drivers), so they are going to sound similar.

The 560s is a totally different headphone. Whether a 580/600/650 is an upgrade or not depends on personal preference.

I am not sure, but I got them last year and I was previously using my Bose QC35II. I actually prefer the Bose lol and now I rarely use the 6XX. I even got an Atom amp for it. It was honestly underwhelming

The HD580 and the HD6xx (rebadged HD650) use the same drivers so it's not surprising you can't hear a substantial difference. The HD560S on the other hand, is not a part of that HD580/600/650 family so there is more likely to be a perceived difference.

Whether or not someone would prefer the HD6xx/HD650 over the HD560S is subjective, but the HD6xx/650 is higher on Sennheiser's model ranking, which is reflected in the higher retail price.

And unless you were to go used, this HD6xx for $159 is likely to be the cheapest you can find this model.

Edit: I wasn't quick enough because jhyman basically posted the same thing while I was typing my post. :-)
