My 12 year old really wants one of these for Christmas. Thinking of getting this as a starter one for us both to try. What else do I need to buy?
I bought this as an upgrade to my V2 Pro, and it's amazing for newbies to 3d printing,Super easy to get started. You will need to buy filament for printing and should consider a PEI steel spring bed plate since the default one is too adhesive and is kind of annoying.

The pei bed mentioned in this comment is a game changer. I waited a year until the one that came with my ender completely came apart. The pie bed can be had for 10 bucks on Amazon and I can't express to you how much better it works. It sticks better when printing and when done it just magic lets go as soon as bed drops in temp.

All you really need is a 3D printer (this), some filament (cheap rolls of PLA on amazon are around $12 a kg, get two or so to start with), and some files from something like thingiverse or printables.

Print some basic models to see what settings you need to tweak and then have fun! No need to buy fancy plates, filter systems, or special nozzles unless you guys decide you want to stick with things.
where on amazon are $12/kg filaments?

EDIT: after more searching, I'm guessing you were referring to costs per kg when buying 2kg packs?

These cheap printers are getting so good and feature-packed. I paid around the same for the original ender 3 with none of the cool features.

I wish I had waited and bought from creality directly instead of doing the geekbuying deal from a week ago. They still haven't shipped my purchase.

Could you provide an amazon link to the exact model that you recommend?

TIA

Using code ZWZGRSCP on creality website puts it at 164. This code is available from their Facebook ads.

Curious if BestBuy will price match microcenter even if it's out of stock and store only. They had $159 I think. Not much difference. I just have these best buy credits I was curious if I could use to get it lower. Just like $15 though. But if can get it under $150 after tax I may cop it. Basically it would be an impulse buy so it's gotta get low enough that I can't say no. Currently not there yet.

Just to clarify for whatever reason, this code works through store.creality.com, but not through OPs link to creality3doffical.com as I tried that code going through OPs link and didnt work. But it does work when I went to order through creality.com. Just an FYI

Repped. Thank you. I bought one as you instructed. My first 3D printer. Lots of learning to do I assume.
