In my experience, the answer is no, you will not hear a noticeable improvement unless your current setup is very underpowered for your speakers and you are routinely playing audio at appreciably loud volumes. Unless you are routinely playing stuff very loud, I would be surprised if you noticed much if any of a difference from your Denon.

Amps are very much "diminishing returns" investments IMO. Speakers should be where the bulk of your money goes. Then worry about a receiver/processor and finally, the amp if you went the separates route.

These seem to be new models with lower power and much smaller power supplies.
That being said they probably will still reach their posted wattage with all channels driven simultaneously...at least into an 8 ohm load anyway.
Which makes them more powerful than all but high end receivers, in a real world environment.

My school of thought is to have a receiver with assignable pre-outs, a nice 3 channel amp to drive your front three and let the receiver drive the surround/atmos speakers.

Your Denon is 105w into 2 channels and probably more like 85w with all channels driven. And these amps will most likely handle peaks better than the Denon as well.

any recommendation on a good pre-amp/avr that can feed into and hopefully similarly priced as the M5100X?

Not a good one at that price point. Maybe you could find a used Denon x3600h near that price, it would have pre-outs. But a dedicated preprocessor (not avr) is going to cost you at least $1500, maybe more.

What do you usually pair these with for like 5.1 or 7.1 setups? The receivers are not having preouts for all channels unless they are high end so then are these necessary?

I bought a Denon 3800h and some Monolith 365iw that are rated at 4 ohms. I'm pretty new to this, what are the thoughts on having one of these drive my front 3? I was thinking about buying a 5 channel and moving it to the rears when I am ready to upgrade. Would it be better to pay more for nicer a 3 channel now, or would one of these be fine?

Thinking about doing the same. Denon x3500h is currently driving 5.1 speakers @ 105w / 5.

Is it really worth it, and a noticeable improvement to add 3 channel to power the front 3 speakers and off load the rear speakers to get the 105w separately? Is it even noticeable?

I bought a Marantz Cinema 70S to use as a 5.1 (maybe 7.1) pre-amp/processor eventually. It's pricey for what it is (50W per channel receiver) but a lot cheaper than a dedicated pre-amp/processor. It's a slim line too so won't have bulky AVR. One negative is that it has basic Audessey room correction and no option for DIRAC. Not a big deal for me but it's worth noting.

Hard to find any receiver <$1k that has 7.x channel preamp out.

I would put the money towards a nice subwoofer. Once the bass duties are moved to a subwoofer, any modern name brand receiver will provide more than enough power for the remaining speakers.

One of these days I will get a Hypex based amp(s) probably from Buckeye or VTV rather than Monoprice unless they have a huge sale.

But for pure power at a good cost... Been rocking 5x Crown 1502 XLS amps for a few years.

It's going to feel strange going from this wall of rack mount amps with their charming alure to a little black box lol.

Audyssey is really pretty good. Ratbuddysey closes that gap quite a bit and gives you a lot of control. Dirac live licensing is expensive.

On a similar note, any idea if the Monolith subs will be further discounted this season?
