I have had the porta pro for 10 plus years. The sound quality is really very good and compares to some of my much higher priced headphones. If you are really tough with your gear, these might not be rugged enough for your use.

They don't last long for me, and I'm not hard on them at all. The weak point is the cable attachment, which has given out on several pairs. Warranty is great, but I got tired of sending them back for replacements. Koss has also been increasing the cost of shipping a replacement too.

Highly recommend these, been using them at work 5+ hours a day for the last several years. Extremely comfortable and lightweight. You will need to buy new earpads every so often.

Loved these for years. Personally I upgraded the earpads to cushioned type and the sound was much better; much less sound bleed than stock.

The KPH40 sounds great for the price. I have the porta pros and kph30i and find the 40 better sounding and more comfortable. I just got the blue and red yaxis and they made the headphones even more comfortable.

This was my experience as well. It's so frustrating because I really like how they sound. If only they made OEM ones where the cable can detach. There are ways of doing it yourself but I don't know how to solder :-(

Anybody have the Koss Pro4S? Are they worth it? The price is 70 right now and besides the price, I'm wondering what your thoughts are how the sounds they produce as well as comfort.

The Porta Pro series may look like their from the 80's and some people may laugh that you are wearing them, BUT they sure sound good for what they are and are pretty comfortable. I've had mine for many years but finally time to replace the foam ear pads.

I bought my first set of Koss PP from Radio Shack in 2009 or 2010. I used them since then and it was broken 1 month ago. I will repurchase them—very good sound and very comfortable.
