edit: ES2 (slower and less range) is $199 on their site as well and would be alright for a short commute or a kids scooter but the G30 for $385 is great value. Not sure if we will see better deals from another retailer but I bit here.

There's a 1st gen and 2nd gen motor. 1st gen motor slows down a bit after the battery level drops halfway. 2nd gen motors seem to keep close to the top speed until the battery level gets really low. The 2nd gen motor seems to be the one which can be modified for the higher top speed. The 2nd gen motor seems to have come out a few years ago so here's hoping these refurbs all come with 2nd gen motors.
That being said, it seems Segway has updated their firmware about a year ago or so which no longer allows the hack to be performed through the free Android app. It was a fairly easy hack using a free Android app via Bluetooth to upgrade the firmware to the higher top speed version.
I am not sure about all of this as I'm an electric scooter newbie and this being my very first scooter but between the newer firmware that prevents any firmware mods, and a possibly newer version of a controller that no longer allows it, it seems it will all depend on which version these refurbs come with.
There seems to be an external aftermarket device that you can purchase which you connect to various soldering points on the controller board which may allow reverting back to a previous hackable firmware but that's getting a bit much in terms of the effort and skill required to make the higher speed hack possible.
Nevertheless, these G30 scooters seems to have quite an aftermarket support out there so here's hoping many of us can have many many miles of fun with them.

But this very brief Amazon $105 price drop yesterday, only about four hours, was a nice second best deal on it. So glad that you posted the drop in this thread, otherwise I might have missed it!
Enjoy the new ride and post back when you get it and have tested it out and let everyone in the thread know how the new refurb turned out.

Couple of things I wish I knew when I first got my scooter...
1.) Try not to drain the battery under 20% all the time (Once in a while is fine but keeping it above 20% is good for battery health).
2.) Tire Pressure - I am 205 lbs and inflate my tires to 50 PSI every week or so and haven't had any flats or issues. (If you are heavier, you might want a little less PSI and if youre lighter maybe go a little over 50 PSI but dont go over 55).
Also heres some must have add ons that I use and can vouch for the quality of.
Phone Mount - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08TWMZFR8 (A piece did break off of this after a year or so but it was my own fault)
Accessory Kit - https://www.walmart.com/ip/1-Set-.../453194638 This kit comes with a hook that attatches to your scooters stem. I put my backpack on the hook and do grocery runs all the time and use a bungee cord to keep the bag firmly on the stem. I wouldn't advise putting alot of weight in the bag but i routinely carry 10-20 lbs of groceries multiple times a week for 2 years now and haven't had any issues but again, its probably not smart to put that much weight in there (I am not a smart man
Loctite for stem screws - https://www.harborfreig
Tire Inflator - Maybe set an alert for an inflator and just pick one up on a deal? This is currently out of stock but is the one I bought on a deal for like $30 I think it was. - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09S898MF3/
Best bang for your buck speaker imo (need tunes when youre scooting
Maybe they're waiting for some returns to come in so they can give it a quick wipe and re-box it for us?
